Natalie hails from a moderately well-off family in one of the settlements. One that did not need to constantly scrounge up supplies just to live another day, but also none that could dictate others what to do. During her early years, she was brought up to be a good little girl, a gentle soul like her sisters, elder and younger alike, with no more of a goal than maybe one day marrying someone useful – at least initially. Realizing that she had the potential for magic changed her live drastically. Amidst siblings without any potential, Nat was suddenly the odd one out, her parents somewhat clueless as to what to do with her and her potential. Making the most of what she got, though, the young girl started to practice her own peculiar brand of abilities. Another mage living in the settlement helped her initially, though it soon turned out that he wanted to more or less use her for his own ends.
[break] She went with him on a journey to learn more, fell in with a bad crowd not too long afterwards. Experiences were had that hardened her slightly, but they also allowed her to fully realize herself as a person. Emancipated from her family, she did not really have to play the good girl, but learned to still do it to further her own goals. A soft-spoken young woman, she likes to cultivate a bit of an image in that regard because she likes the look on other’s faces when she acts against type. Ultimately, she is not some kind of altruistic young maiden that seeks to utilize her abilities for the good of mankind or anything like that. She learned to never do something for free, especially things only she could do. Those who couldn’t in some way recompense her for her efforts did not deserve her aid, simple as that. While not outright cruel or anything like that, Nat certainly puts herself in front of others. That was why she signed up for the guild that in her opinion best exemplified that mind set.
