Koji watched the canine girl's methodical movements. His fur bristled when she reached out, anticipating some sort of attack, only to see that it had grasped some sort of red flower. Innocent action upon first glance. He wondered what she was trying to convey to him. Some sort of foreign symbolic gesture? Had she even noticed his presence?

He visibly flinched when her yellow eyes swivelled towards him. There was his answer. Muscles still tensed, he wished dearly had that he had brought his katana with him. Fool. But he could not dwell on regrets. Not in the face of immediate danger.

Slowly, as though fearing that sudden movement could provoke a rabid animal, he unfurled his twin tails from his body and steadily returned to a biped posture. His hind legs shifted apart and he assumed a defensive role. All the while, he kept his solitary eye trained upon the stranger.

Deep in his mediation and detached from reality, Koji failed to notice the arrival of another - that was until a draft carried her scent towards his nostrils. The Exceed never presented himself as monk capable of entering the deepest of meditative states, and indeed his version of it was little more than staying still and connecting his soul with nature whilst simultaneous detaching himself. There must've been a fault somewhere between those lines, or the scent would not have disturbed him so much.

At first, it manifested as a nose twitch. Then a clenching of the jaw. Finally his sole remaining eye opened. It stared ahead, fixating upon the dark haired canid intruder and began methodically obtaining information from her black attire to the blood on her hand.

At the sound of fluctuance, Koji's wet pink nose scrunched up in mock distaste. "At least it would mask the fish smell." He muttered to himself between breaths by way of consolation.

It did also livening up the atmosphere, a jovial mood amplified by Topaz's trademark innocent confirmation. It was fortunate to, for fatigue was rapidly catching up to Koji, a factor not helped by the weight of a bag full of a fish.

When they slowed to a halt, the two brothers panted for breath beside one another, with Koji dropping his haul with a relieved sigh. The contents squelched on impact with the rocky ground. The Exceed's eye followed his brother's to survey for hints of any approaching threat.

A terse moment followed without fanfare before Koji heaved another heavy sigh. "No problem Top. You're the one with the short legs." He noted mischievously, nudging one of the younger feline's legs with his own white hindpaw.

It wasn't often Koji returned to his quadruped roots. Indeed over the years of locomoting on two legs, he rarely was seen prowling on all fours. But today, surrounded by something as clear as the nature's domination over artificial man made structures, the Exceed felt his soul yearn for a simpler and primordial form. Thus explained his perch on the outcrop of what centuries ago must've been the remains of a concrete wall. Claws unsheathed from orange sleeves, all four paws gripped the moss sewn rock. Statuesque, assuming the avatar of serenity, the one-eyed feline mediated in silence.
