When the lid opened, the clones would find a mischievous ghost buried in clothing. Shirts, pants, underwear and more had been messily mixed around. Her head popped from a pile of socks “Oh, hi!” Luckily these were all clean...
Kin closed her eyes, cocked her head and deflected the question with the most innocent smile she could muster. “Yup! Totally. Doing great even.” After an awkward pause, she reached out to the closest clone. “...Buuut since you’re there, mind helping me out of this chest?” What? No, she wasn’t stuck!
...Okay, fine, she might have been a little stuck.
Naturally the trickster had no intention to admit her spell had run out. Rather, she knew just the thing to distract the man. “I found some treasure, you know. If you play nice, I might even share~” Psh, not likely...

Bombs Away [social | open]

Devilish glee bubbled in the trickster’s mind like a sweet, fizzy drink. It was delicious! People had so many reactions to her favorite trick. Some screamed, others gasped. She had been told the sensation of going through her body was cold and creepy. All the better for spooky things!
However, when Kin blinked... the wolfish woman vanished! Poof! Of course she was quick to glance around. “Huh?” Her usual mask shattered beneath the weight of utter confusion. What, how, where...?
When the ghostly mage noticed the familiar figure behind her, she stopped to stare. And listen. There it was again... The strange, creeping feeling that something was off... Her gaze narrowed at the mysterious woman’s words. Slowly they swirled around her head.
After a brief pause, barely a beat, the trickster opened her mouth. “You’re a snoop.” Flat and blunt, like a bop from a rolled up newspaper. “A snoop who loves secrets and games. Duh~!” She underlined the cheeky comment by aiming a playful boop at her friend’s nose.

At first, it sounded like the wolfish woman didn’t believe. The trickster cocked her head quizzically. “Ah, is that so~?” Tinges of disappointment painted her tone. Shame... Oh, what a funny coincidence it would be if someone proved her wrong...
However, when question was returned with a knowing look, the ghostly mage smiled back innocently. “Hm, true. The world is full of strange things. Like misbehaving eggs.” Everyone had something to hide.
The trickster fell silent and lowered her head. A pause before the finale. She still had one more bomb to drop. One more trick to play. Her favorite...
Soon Kin giggled beneath her breath. It gained an odd echo. “Hm heh heh heh~ You know... Maybe you should start believing in ghost stories...” Her smile sharpened into a creepy crescent grin. A pale shimmer engulfed body and her eyes burned like golden embers. “...You’re in one.” Suddenly she reached her intangible hand towards her friend, planning to stick it right through her head. It always freaked people out~!
“Boo~”

Those who knew Kin also knew the playful woman wasn’t exactly the most reliable partner. And people who didn’t yet know that... Weeell they usually learned quickly.
Once again the ghostly mage was fashionably late. She may or may not have forgotten about the mission. Even as the meeting time ticked by, she sauntered through the village. Seeing sights, stealing fruits... Not in a rush, nope.
Eventually the wandering woman found the farm that had been mentioned in the mission briefing. A missing bull, right? Stealing back something stolen was right up her alley. Now, if memory served, she was supposed to have a partner for this little adventure...
Oh...?
Seeing the wolfish stranger peering around sparked a lovely little idea in the trickster’s mind. Her lips curled into a cat-like smile. Slowly, slyly, she crept closer. Sneaking, sneaking, sneaking... Once she got behind the woman, she piped up cheerfully. And loudly.
“What’cha looking for~?”

Upon catching Topaz by the tail, a wicked smirk spread across Kin’s lips. Her eyes took a devilish, kind of reddish gleam. Just as planned. She snatched the victory right before the finish line!
The trickster bounced in place and waved her arms in a small victory dance. It was only made sweeter by the frustration of the loser! This was the kind of thing she didn’t get to do with her own guild...
Kin snapped out of her thoughts when Topaz introduced the guild building. And... invited her inside... Her smile faded. She glanced up at the building, then back down at the naive cat. So eager to let a total stranger into his home... After a brief pause, she smiled sweetly.
“Sure~!”
What was the worst that could happen?
((Aaand that’s the end for this thread. I had a lot of fun and I would love to continue the story in a new thread! No rush if you’re busy though.))

Snooping around was one of the trickster’s favorite hobbies. She had gotten good at sneaking into places and finding out secrets. And now... It seemed she had stumbled upon something delightful. Anything that was forbidden to read was a great read!
Slyly the ghost snuck closer, slipping through the furniture. Bare feet made no sound on the floorboards. It was surprisingly difficult to find a balance between staying hidden and peeking over one’s shoulder. Now she wanted to read that stuff too...
Kin listened carefully as the clones gave the slaver a good tongue lashing. She silently agreed with the first part in particular. People were meant to be free. However, seeing the familiar glow gave her pause. Were they going to... kill the man? Hm. Too bad she didn’t have popcorn.
While clones dealt with the fool, the trickster sunk back through the desk. No, she didn’t have the slightest intention to interfere. Killing was... dull, sure... Dead people couldn't play games after all... But slavers deserved no pity. Besides, she had her own target she was trying to find... Warm and dry clothes. A nearby chest started creaking and trembling as the playful poltergeist rummaged through it from the inside.

Forbidden Tome [mission]

The ghastly mage suppressed a giggle when her new buddy gave a snappy answer. So quick to deny it, hm? How fitting for a no-nonsense type of dummy... Or maybe she was just scared of ghosts~!
Kin cocked her head at the answer. “Hm, that’s a funny way to think about it...” She shrugged at the return question, remaining playfully vague as usual. “Heh hee~ I just think ghosts are neat.” Well, at least she was telling a rare bit of truth.
After a brief pause, the trickster’s voice trailed through the darkness again. “After all... You can’t kill what’s already dead.” It took an ominous echo from the cavern walls, sounding deep and distorted. Her wicked smile underlined the eerie moment.
The fact that they were creeping around an enemy base didn’t stop Kin from playing her games. Just marching in silence would’ve been sooo boooring... Plus if her chatter attracted any enemies, she was sure the woman leading the way could handle them.

There was so much to snoop the trickster could hardly hide her excitement. Something about the wolfish woman felt... different. Yet also the same. She couldn’t really put her finger on it. Ooor maybe she wasn’t just paying enough attention. Those eyes were honestly distracting...
Kin didn’t even stop to think about the question before chiming cheerfully. “Of course I do~!” She lied through her teeth. Her face held no hints of hesitation. Sure, in truth she would have agreed with her friend, but where’s the fun in that? Especially when the woman had such a strong opinion on it.
Instead, the storyteller deftly weaved a little tale. “Fortune telling is just one way of reading one’s soul.” She cast a knowing glance downwards, around her friend’s chest. “And everyone has a soul, you know.” Hard to say how much of it she truly believed... And how much she just made up on the spot.
Grinning, the trickster continued leading the little dance. “Some of them even linger after death, held on this earth by bitter grudges or lonely longing.” She leaned closer for a sly little whisper. Half of it was just a playful setup, but the other half was genuine curiosity.
“Hey... Do you believe in ghost stories...?”

Kin giggled at the joke, returning a teasing jab of her own. “Oh, you say that, but I bet I could make your tail wag~” She ran her fingers through the wolfish woman’s hair. Slowly. Gently... Seeking a weak spot. What if she... scratched here, hm?
Some compared spying to chess. Every move had to be carefully considered, or it might end up costing more than it gained. ...In Kin’s opinion, some people were total dummies. Spying was a dance. Twirling steps taken around the target, meant to mesmerize and mystify. Far more fun than any boring board game.
Continuing the gentle, disarming motions, the devious snoop slyly offered the next bait. “You have beautiful eyes, you know...” She leaned close, focusing her golden stare on the target. “I feel like you could gaze right into my soul...” Pffft, yeah right. Oh well, baits were supposed to sound nice. Not believable.
Kin paid close attention to the mysterious woman’s reaction. She was set on taking the lead in this dance, snooping around for evidence to back up her hunch. Back on the rooftops, she thought she had caught a glimpse of something... interesting.

Hook, line and sinker! The sly woman could hardly hide the devilish glee in her widening smile. It was so easy to trick this helpful little dummy into revealing the safe path. That’s right! It was all just a part of her devious plan! And not because she wanted to play with someone...
Kin’s thoughts popped like a bubble when Topaz suddenly raced ahead of her. Well, the little cat was fast on his feet, but so was she. “Nyeh, don’t be so sure~!” She picked up the pace, gaining a little on every step. Soon she was close enough to almost tug him by the tail.
A lovely rush of adrenaline filled the trickster’s head. Dashing along the paths, dodging and weaving past obstacles... A turn here and jump there... It felt like a dance. Between quickened breaths, her playful response rang out. “Maybe, but all I need to do...” Slyly her hand reached towards the cat. “...is to overtake you right before the finish line!” Suddenly she tried to grab him by the collar -or tail- and yank him backwards. It wasn’t cheating, it was improvising~!

Delighted by the commentary, the devious trickster was quick to agree. “Mmhm~ It’s fun to be worshipped~” She could’ve gotten used to it... Not! As if she needed anyone’s praise. Buuut it was nice to be appreciated, even if reluctantly and only for a moment...
However, when Sovereign mentioned his business, Kin’s eyes immediately gleamed. “Business, hm~?” Her smile sharpened into that eerie crescent grin again. “A funny coincidence... So do I...” She sensed secrets. There was no way she would just sit still and let the clone boy have all the fun.
The sly woman cast a cheery look at the identical enforcers. “You boys have this under control, right? Right!” She didn’t give them a chance to protest before already dashing off. Now if she were to guess, the so-called business was happening inside that inviting building.
And if not, it would at least be warm and dry.
Crouching by the corner of the building, Kin channeled her magic again. Bathed in a ghostly glow, she peeked into the building right through the wall. Oh wow, the place was kind of a mess... Her golden gaze soon found Sovereign and his new involuntary friend. Now what could possibly be so interesting about a bunch of papers, hm?

Kin patted the pouch in her pocket with a pleased hum. It had some nice heft to it. Stepping aside, she gave Kaida some room to tie up the unconscious crook. Killing had never been her style. It was far too messy and final for a fate. You couldn’t toy with people who were dead, you know.
Much to the trickster surprise, her partner-in-crime seemed keen to take the lead. After pondering briefly, she nodded. “Hm, sure thing~” As if... Sneaking after the lizardwoman, she voiced a teasing whisper. “Lead the way, scaredy-cat~” Yep, that would be her nickname now, whether she liked it or not.
Ahead of them awaited darkness. Natural light didn’t reach very far beyond the entrance. In the dark, imagination tended to run wild and shadows seemed to shift. It didn't help that soon Kin voiced an idle question. “Sooo I’ve been wondering... Do you believe in ghost stories?” She had been told that it was a strange thing to ask, which was exactly why she asked it. The second poke~!

Instead of a satisfying splatter, the prankster got something much stranger. The egg slipped her grasp and right down her cleavage. She tensed, careful not to move an inch until it stopped within the folds of her clothes. Phew, didn’t break at least...
But fishing it out would be a pain...
When the target voiced her question, the trickster gave her an innocent smile. “Oh, nothing at all~” She backed up the lie by gleefully fluffing the ears. “They’re just so fluffy I couldn’t help myself~” The best lies had a seed of truth after all.
However, behind the smile the imaginary gears turned. Kin sensed secrets. She withdrew her hand and ever so carefully slipped under her jumpsuit. Hngh, come on... There! She pulled out the first piece of evidence, now cracked. Ew, she had yolk in unmentionable places. Still... Eggs didn’t fly on their own, not without someone magical interfering.
Tossing the evidence out the hatch, the playful woman mused quietly. “The ears aren’t the only cool part about you...” She brought a hand to her lips and fell silent, pretending it was simply a slip of the tongue. Compliments were the key to fishing for secrets.
