The ghastly mage quirked a brow at the name. “Nyeh, a pompous name for a pompous pet~” She still thought a cutesy creature deserved a cutesy name, buuuut... Snobs never had any taste. What else was new?
When it came to money, Kin wasted no time snatching her share. Her mouth watered at the mere thought of all the tasty snacks she could buy with this. Goodbye porridge and dry bread! At least for a couple of... days.
Before the trickster could turn her undivided attention onto the raccoon, the furry guildie made the smart choice and bolted. Her stare narrowed and smile sharpened. “Wow, rude~” It was spoken with a playful chime. With a faint shimmer, her form vanished into thin air, off to more mischief. All on her own. Southern Wolves rarely spent time together beyond missions...
And she was fine with that.

Kin too gave the lifeless contraption one more curious poke before leaving it be. She hummed in agreement when Natalie voiced her guess. “Mmhm. Busted for good.” Or maybe not. She wasn’t a mechanic, so she really didn’t know.
The trickster glanced over her shoulder, not at all surprised the little coward had bailed. A mischievous smile played on her lips. “Or maybe she disappeared because she was a ghooost~ OooOoo~” Oh, she wished. If the tiny girl had been a ghost, she could’ve taken some notes. Learned new tricks maybe.
When the guildie asked about exploring further, the ghostly mage looked around. This looked pretty much like a dead end to her. Unless there was another hidden passage. Inside a hidden passage. What would be the odds?
After a pensive pause, Kin finally piped up again. “Hmmm, nah...” She shook her head. “Whoever lived here was definitely some kind of boring bookworm...” A heavy sigh punctuated her words. “...and all those ghost-like things were probably that girl’s doing. Using her own magic to animate old things or whatever.” Her usual smile dampened, disappointment creeping across her features. She quickly turned her gaze away, trying to hide it.
She had always been a fan of shiny treasures rather than educational ones...

Kin could hardly contain the devilish grin creeping onto her features. Hook, line and sinker~! Even if Bandit was always so mysterious about himself, one fact was clear... He was in this game for profit and not for fun. And that made her job easy~!
Much to the trickster’s surprise, the guildmate dashed like the wind. Wow, he must’ve really loved his money... Well, she wasn’t complaining. Jogging over, she stopped to admire the wriggly creature. “Aw, it looks so cute~!” In... a weird, slick, lizardy way... Furry creatures were way cuter, buuut she could see why someone would want such a feisty pet.
Leaving the grumpy raccoon to deal with the lizard, the ghastly mage moved to the client’s side. She was... uh... personal protection. Yeah, sure. “Sooo, whatcha gonna name it? Something fancy like Sir Sal' Mander?” Oh, she had no intention to actually help. Judging by the way it struggled, an extra pair of hands trying to hold it would just be a target for those tiny teeth...

While the two Southern Wolves members focused on the confusing contraption, the robed stranger snatched the remaining book. She clutched it against her chest protectively and snuck out the door quietly. Whoever she had been no longer mattered. Buuut the reputation of the two blondes probably wouldn’t get any better at least.
Kin shifted her quizzical stare between Natalie and the machine. Oh, so her friend was just as clueless. Maybe they should... Her thoughts were cut short by a sudden clang. “Huh? Hehehehe~” She giggled at the sight, amused how she had the exact same idea. As everyone knew, percussive maintenance was the best maintenance!
Against all odds, the odd machine started quietly rumbling. The trickster peered at the vague shape, seeing gears turn... Or at least try to turn. Patches of rust clung stubbornly to the metal frame, bringing the motion to a halt.
After a moment, the ghostly mage shrugged. “Hm, well, unless you can burn away rust too, I don’t think this piece of junk will work anymore.” Her arsenal held no spells that could help here. She had always been better at breaking things anyway.

Tricking people was far more fun than being tricked... For once, the ghastly mage got a taste of her own medicine. Just as she jumped to grab the lizard, the swift little creature slipped away. Instead, she flopped against the ground with a soft thud.
“Oof, hey! Stay still!”
Quickly the trickster scrambled back onto her feet and continued running. As much as she hated to admit, she really needed a hand here. Not that she could really ask it outright... Besides, her guildie was clearly lacking energy here. Too bad nothing really motivated the grumpy creature.
Except...
When the client mentioned the main motivator, Kin’s lips curled into a mischievous, cat-like smile. “Hey Fluffy~!” Her playful tone chimed across the landscape, the kind of tone that never boded well for those hearing it. “If I catch that thing without your help, I’m taking your share of the pay too~!” She glanced over her shoulder, eager to see if that would put some pep into the raccoon.

Right upon leaping onto the getaway wolf, Kin sought to wrap her arms around Mercy’s waist. She was desperate to find something, anything reliable to hold onto. ...Even if she tried her best to mask it beneath the playful mask.
“Nyeh hee, I know how to get attention~”
The trickster’s glanced over her shoulder and blew a raspberry at the raging bull. Antagonizing things much bigger and stronger than her was pretty much how she lived her life. Buuut... Falling off right now would’ve been pretty bad. Her hold tightened as she tried to stop her hands from trembling.
As the familiar sights whizzed by in reverse order, the ghostly mage tried to distract herself from the snorting bulldozer rushing behind. “Sooo... Any ideas on how we’re gonna stop that thing?” Because she had exactly one and that would probably make the thing run in the opposite direction. That’s what usually happened to people when she did it...

Without anyone more mature to step in, the childish argument went back and forth fruitlessly. Luckily for everyone involved, neither side was the violent type. One preferred tricks, while the other fought with traps. At worst, there was a risk of a slap fight.
However, before it could devolve to that, Kin’s attention was pulled elsewhere. She quirked a curious brow when Natalie wandered off. “Hm...” Her curious gaze trailed onto the rusty hunk of metal. Now why would her buddy be drawn to that? She sensed... secrets!
Creeping closer, the ghostly mage watched closely how the crafty healer’s investigation progressed. Honestly though, she had no idea what it was or how it might work. Mechanisms and machinery had never been her strong point. Eventually she just had to ask.
“Whatcha got there?”

When the skittish target suddenly noticed them, the transparent mage snickered. “Hee~ You guys scared it away~” Obviously she wasn’t going to admit that her steps hadn’t been the quietest either. Stupid rocks rolling around... Oh well! She was always up for a game of tag.
While the boys ran directly after the fleeing lizard, the trickster took a different route. She picked up the pace, trying to predict where the target was headed. Natural obstacles were a nice little funnel, forcing animals and people alike into a specific direction...
Luckily that didn’t apply to ghosts.
Kin’s body shimmered with a ghostly light. Where the other three had to avoid running into anything, she just passed right through things in her path. Her plan was simple enough. She was trying to run past the lizard and suddenly appear right in front of it. Pincer maneuver~!

The robed figure trembled, tiny hands scraping against the floor and squeezing into fists. She snapped back at the accusation. “T-that’s different! I’m an archeologist!” The term was spoken insistently, like a badge of honor against the insulting label.
Kin, meanwhile, wasn’t exactly convinced. She cocked her head, voicing a sly question. “...Isn’t that just a fancy word for a grave robber?” It got under the stranger’s skin immediately. The blue eyes widened, before gaining a gleam of indignation. “What? No!” The trickster’s lips curled into a smug smile. “Preeetty sure it is~” The argument quickly devolved into a back and forth of nuh uh, yuh uh.
At this rate, the mouthy mage was going to provoke the poor soul to the verge of tears if she wasn’t stopped. Aaand ruin the plan of not looking like jerks while she was at it. Well, two against one was pretty much bullying to begin with...

Smugness intensified when Kin received delicious praise. “Ho hum~ Of course I’m right~” She puffed her chest proudly. ...And completely ignored any suggestions or factual claims that threatened to poke holes in her inflated ego.
As much as the trickster would’ve loved to find a pink wizard, a lizard would have to do. Though if memory served, they were surprisingly fiery and grumpy creatures. Especially for something so small. Maybe she should catch an extra one and let it loose in the guild’s bedroom...
When the group leader started getting cautious, the ghostly mage followed the lead in her own way. A fading giggle chimed from her lips. Her body shimmered, slowly turning transparent... Not that it would help if she ended up scrambling over loose rocks or something.

Upon hearing the name of their prey, Kin perked up immediately. “Ooh, I know this one.” She glanced downwards at the raccoon and a smug smile played on her lips. For once she would get to flaunt her superior smarts!
With a feigned cough, the trickster lifted a finger and assumed her wise lecturer voice. Or a poor imitation of one at least. “Ahem. A Salamander is a small, pink lizard, with fire magic and a bad temper.” She sounded pretty professional at least. At least until she abruptly paused.
Idly the ghastly mage brought the finger to her lips and voiced a puzzled thought. “...Or was it a small, pink wizard?” Her confused memories gathered into a bubble above her head, painting a picture of a bad-tempered shorty with pink hair. ...Well, maybe that was just in her imagination. Ultimately she just ended her brief lecture with a noncommittal shrug.
“Eh, either or.”

The blunt pause was finally pushed aside when Natalie offered her insight. Kin aimed a flabbergasted stare at her. “Really? There’s someone dumb enough to pay for these things?” Now there was a hilarious thought. Still, it made sense. Collectors were all weirdos with way too much money.
And her secret cash stash was running dangerously low...
Meanwhile, the hooded figure was struck by an unpleasant realization. “So you are bandits after all...” Her head drooped with disappointment. Her treasures... Or her life. It was an ultimatum the solemn little seeker was all too used to hearing.
The trickster shrugged at the comment. “I prefer the term... treasure hunter. Same thing, but sounds niftier.” She had no problem with being labeled a bandit. To be fair, it wasn’t even that far from the truth where her guild was concerned.
With a bitter sigh, the small stranger gave up. “Guh... Fine... This is all I have. Take what you will.” From the depths of her robes she produced three tomes. Each one was decorated with an arcane symbol and text too faded to read. Kin, however, wasn’t impressed. “Wait, really? That is all you have?” The figure only nodded.

When Bandit returned fire with sarcasm as his ammo, Kin had to deflect the whole idea. “Pft, hah~ You wish!” Her smile sharpened. “Keep dreaming, Fluffy.” As if she would ever get that close and intimate with a guild mate. Or anyone else really...
Luckily, having two targets meant the azeban got a moment to breathe as the trickster turned her attention onto the young man. She cocked her head at the mention of a beast. “Interesting~ Does this beast have a name?” Well, even if it did, she probably wouldn’t know it. She had always been more interested in snooping people’s names anyway.
Beneath the mask, the devious snoop was trying to piece together the puzzle that was Helios. His fancy outfit and willingness to flaunt money as a motivator meant he wasn’t a mercenary or a hunter. Maybe an eccentric collector? A mage looking to find rare ingredients or catalysts? Hm hm, the puzzle was still so incomplete...
While journeying along, Kin was eager to keep silence away. “Could it be the fabled giant bear?” Her gaze wandered around idly, enjoying the sights. “The elusive duck-billed poison beaver?” Each suggestion was tossed out carefreely, like those strange beasts had been common knowledge. “Or the fearsome werebadger?” ...Except two or three of those were something she completely made up on the spot.

With a surprised squeak and a light thud, Kin oh so gracefully dismounted. “Eep, oof...” She sprung up and dusted her clothes. “Well, since you asked so nicely...” As she approached the barn, her body started to shimmer. The entrance seemed to be locked with a sturdy padlock, but that didn’t even give her pause.
She just walked straight through the door like it wasn’t even there.
Upon stepping into the barn, Kin... immediately wished she hadn’t. She turned her eyes away and covered her mouth, trying her best to keep her lunch down. Well, she did find a bull. Doing... what bulls did... Ew.
Trying to think in all this... noise... proved difficult. That thing seemed mighty and massive enough to be called prized or whatever, so now the only problem was leading it back home. Kin cast one more glance towards the beast. And that’s when an awful, wonderful idea sparked in her mind. With a malicious smirk, she pulled out her trusty blowgun and a sharp rock...
-MOOOOOOOO!!!-
Approximately two seconds later, an outraged bellow echoed from the barn. The maniacally giggling trickster was the first to escape, phasing past the locked entrance. She hopped back onto the wolf, managing to wheeze one sensible line through the bubbly laughter.
“Found it~!”
Immediately afterwards, the enraged bull also ran straight through the door. Just with far more splintering wood. Judging by the mad glint in its eyes, it was hell-bent on chasing the blonde woman. Lowering its horns, it charged!

When the healer countered the bluff with a bluff, the robed figure recoiled. Presumably in a slack-jawed shock. “W-what?! You can do that?!” The squeaky voice brimmed with panic. Evidently the poor, naive soul didn’t even think to question the outlandish claim...
Kin, meanwhile, was equally shocked. “B-burn curses away...?!” Once it passed, she turned to stare at her partner wide-eyed. “That’s... so cool~!” Her gaze twinkled with wonder, the kind of sparkling admiration a little sister would direct at an older sibling.
Hastily the stranger hurried to bow down at Natalie’s feet. “Please, please, please don’t kill me!” It... she actually... pleaded for her dear life. “I don’t actually know any curses... I just came here to find and recover books...” Honesty shined in her quivering voice.
The trickster wrinkled her nose at the claim. “Bleh, who cares about the books?” She nudged the bowing stranger with her foot. “Where’s the hidden treasure?” The stranger tried to pull herself into an even smaller bundle, mumbling hesitantly. “B-but... the books are the treasure... Knowledge has immeasurable value...” Unfortunately, that same honesty still remained.
Kin’s smile vanished. Her voice was as flat as her stare. “...What?” The stranger lifted her head. Gleaming blue eyes, like little jewels, stared back. “What?” Clearly the two didn’t quite share the same idea here.
