Mission Name: Vanishing Point Client: Odin's Spear Mission Briefing: Recently increasing number of civilians have been reported missing from Shale Town. Find out the reason for their disappearance and bring back any survivors you found. A sinister plot. An elusive criminal. An unsolved mystery.
It's like Christmas finally came fucking early. Ever since she had joined the group, she had her eyes peeled for any missions that gives even a whiff of mystery that will catch her interest. But often she arrived too late to the party, the job already taken away by other magi within the guild. Not this time though, the moment she spotted the missing people quest it practically get sucked straight into her pocket.
Her eyes drank greedily over the details given within the mission. Nothing was stolen from the scene nor were there sign of struggle. There were no suicidal notes or the like either and the victims were of sound mental health. It was as if the victims decided to just one day leave the place on a whim never to return home again. Left alone, it would definitely bring an insidious effect on their city.
Now she just had to wait for her partner to join her for the case.

Moving through the crowd, the Godfather wore a hollow expression on her face. Though she seemed to don a small smile, the look in her eyes suggested her mind resided elsewhere. The amount of resent and anger contained in the slits of her crimson eyes suggested she did not take kindly to the potential harm of those who lived in Shale Town. Her mind circulated thoughts about drinking the blood of all individuals responsible for the abduction until they were naught but dry husks. Not before humiliating them with the effects of her potent Magic, of course.
”Hello, Kasumi,” she said, keeping her greeting simple. It was not often the guild mistress herself attended missions with the guild’s soldiers, but this task literally hit home. Not only would the disappearances tear families apart and waste precious life, but it would sow the seeds of fear in the community. She had no intention of letting it go unsolved. Who better to take with her than the individual gnawing at mystery opportunities?

"Greetings Godfather."Kasumi replied, straightening up in response upon hearing Anniken's approach. She had a hunch that someone from the top would come to join her for the task...though her mind was thinking of Ivory in first place. Stuffing the paper into her pocket, she would turned towards her with a slight bow of her head. Others may curtsy perhaps...but the purplehead never felt right curtsying while wearing a pantsuit. It simply looked ludicrous for her.
"Aye, no complaints Ma'am. Let me know if you need anything, I shall be at your service."came her stiff reply.
There's a different air to the godfather as she see it right now...quite different than the one she had seen last time. It was not just the air but even her looks had changed slightly from what she remembered. The inquisitive part of her wanted to find out more about this change but the other part of her wanted to jump on the mystery as soon as possible. They both clashed inside her head before she came to a resolution.
"How about you Godfather? How do you fare?"

”Oh, I’ve seen better days. I suppose right now I’m in the mood to tear off someone’s head and drink everything that spews from their neck stump.”
Anniken always had a greater penchant for brutality than Justice did. The latter was no pushover when it came to eliminating those who did the world harm, but the grisliest demises often came from Anniken herself. Currently, they both were active, but the individual speaking seemed to be the one who put the A in AJ.
”Dear sister, you could afford to be far more temperate when it comes to these matters. Foremost, we must confirm whether this is a crime caused by a specific individual, or if it is a different matter entirely. Should you hastily jump to the conclusion there is a culprit, then you narrow your perspective of the big picture,” Justice chimed in, making it appear as though the Godfather was talking to herself. Then again, she wasn’t secretive about the fact there were two souls in one body—she and her twin.
”Oh please. Of all things, what else do you think it could be? Is it ever anything ideal?” Kasumi Ito | Post 2

It's not very often one get to talk...or even argue with themselves. Were Ivory failed to inform the purplehead about her split personality, she would have bore a gobsmacked look on her face perhaps. Even weirdly enough, both personality were active at the same time as opposed to one at a time. How very fascinating. The whole time Kasumi listened with silence until the last question was raised before she finally speak.
"With all due respect Ma'am, she is right. We should be open to all possibilities lest we might not discover discover the truth."
As Kasumi wasn't quite informed of the name of the twins and which personalities it belong to, she refrained from trying to make a guess. At least one of the sister is more level headed than the other, which she supposed she would be relying on when it comes to investigative purpose. The more brutal sister would definitely be of help if she ever needed to intimidate the truth out of her witness.
"Though I will not say no to show that we meant business once we find out who. Should there be more than one culprit, do I have the permission to acquire them for personal purpose Godfather?" Kasumi asked. She wasn't sure if such permission would be granted...but she had to try at least. Afterall, she had a person who she cares about who would cherish dining on criminal scums.

Flecks of confusion filled her eyes when she listened to the woman speak on personal uses for whatever piece of shit they happened to capture after it was all said and done. What possible reason did she have for that? A lot of different possibilities came to mind, and she did not want to resort to her Eye when she trusted her subordinates enough to tell her these things. Experimentation? Torture? Further questioning? What could she want?
”Mmm, I suppose I wouldn’t mind—so long as you tell me the reason why. After all, you heard me before—I do desire blood should it be impure. We kill those who are evil, and to waste what I use for sustenance, that would be terrible,” Anniken replied with a small shrug.
”However, if your reason happens to be legitimate, I do not mind letting you do it. Besides, now you have piqued my curiosity, and I wish to explore your reasons. Should they be too uncomfortably personal, it may impact my decision. I do need to eat, so unless it’s equivalent to that…” Kasumi Ito | Post 3

Now that was quite unexpected. Kasumi had expected her idea to be shot immediately but surprisingly enough Anniken was willing to hear her reasons out first. She half contemplated backing out but even before she had the chance to do so Anniken had ask her on said personal reason. Though her cheek flushed, she decided to remain as honest as possible.
"I've a... friend who shared the same hunger as you Ma'am. Unfortunately, she's not quite the combat type. I was hoping if there were a surplus of "food supplies", I could bring some back home for her." she explained, matching the gaze of the godfather. That said she wasn't quite sure that there would be more than one criminal involved in first place.
"I apologized if I went out of line there."she finally finished, lowering her gaze to the floor when she do so.

”Kasumi, I feel as though you would benefit considerably from loosening up. That is to say, you needn’t develop rude habits but you certainly are free to speak your mind and pose requests and inquiries to your discretion,” Anniken said in response, interlocking her fingers behind her back. As she spoke, the Godfather bounced on the heels of her feet.
”…I suppose I don’t mind, but if we happen to find a lot of people responsible for these heinous crimes, I wish to have a portion of the blood. You may take a larger supply back to her, as I am aware Berry—yes, I am quite privy to whom I assign to missions and the vampires in the guild—is incapable of heavy combat-related missions at this time. That, and I think this is cute.”
Chuckling a little at the dynamic, she wondered if the two had been having lots of fun together. Perhaps she should give one of them some pointers? Or maybe just let them figure things out on their own.

"...Aye Ma'am. I'll do my best to relax more."
With that she eased up a bit, as opposed to standing at alert earlier. It was, quite frankly, tiring to keep up with the formalities at all times but she was so accustomed to them that they had formed a habit for her. If even the boss had told her to loosen up a bit perhaps she was a little wound up tight about it.
Though she employed a little subterfuge so as to possibly spare her friend from potential scolding, it looked as if the concern was needless as not only she gave her approval she encouraged them even. Blinking in surprise, she nod and give a warm smile towards her in response. As for the cute comment? Better to ignore it for now.
"Thank you Ma'am, I really appreciate your generosity. Well then, shall we get going? We can investigate the crime scenes on where it occured or perhaps we can do door duty and question if anyone saw something suspicious. I've compiled a list of places we can check on..."she stated, taking out a notebook from her pocket as she flipped through them.

So, it seemed her suspicions were correct. Kasumi wanted the criminal—if any existed in the first place—for feeding a different vampire in the guild. Part of her hoped the dragon slayer would eventually decide to progress her abilities and be able to participate in bigger missions, allowing her to reap the benefits of drinking blood by herself. If she did not treat it with a greater sense of urgency since awakening to her powers, she would rely too much on her partner. Granted, they did have a lot of willing donors…
Well, that aside, the task at hand. Kasumi started to flip through pages, stating that the first step they needed to take care of was door duty. This procedure tended to revolve around going door-to-door and inquiring to people about the situation at hand. Back before the Calamity, this was the favoured approach of the Rune Knights.
”Certainly. For this task, I shall mostly be following your lead. If you need my abilities or wisdom, simply ask and receive. Otherwise, it seems you have the situation under control.” Kasumi Ito | Post 5

"Understood. I shall keep that in mind."
With their method of investigation decided, Kasumi would lead the way. As there were no suicide note, mental illness and the like...it had spared her the footwork needed to check out each and every room the victim could be found in. What was worrying was that there was no sign of struggles on the victim part. Considering how pristine each room belonging to the victim were found, it was as if they had voluntarily decided to disappear on their own.
The door to door duties that followed were unfortunately, fruitless on her part. Most of the citizens nearby didn't spot anything suspicious near where the crime scenes had happened. A few of them did mention they had seen the victims left the area but paid little heed to them as they did not seem to be under any sort of trouble. After thanking them for their cooperation, Kasumi would turn around to face the Godfather once more.
"Looks like this turns out to be a dead-end. That no one saw anything suspcious suggested someone of semi-professional level at least. But there was no ransom demand for the families involved so the motive behind this couldn't have been money." she explained, although the reason behind stating them out loud it makes it easier for her to think.

While following along with the procedure, the Godfather let Kasumi do most of the talking. She might chime in every now and then with a jabbing inquiry, but she kept things minimal. If anything, her presence reinforced Kasumi’s by assuring that people knew not to lie or fabricate information. Anybody who conspired with enemies betrayed the community, and excommunication would be the minimum punishment.
Upon facing her, Kasumi would heed the pep the woman had in her step. This most likely alluded to Anniken being the soul in control of the body. Alert eyes, an eternal vivid smile etched onto her face, and periodic bouncing on her heels while she held on her elbow behind her back.
”I’m wary, to say the least. When people disappear, it is often the work of places like Samuelsonite Town. Filled with a community of freaks who heavily dabble in the occult, there is a good chance they are linked. If that is the case, I fear for the worst, and encourage urgency.” Kasumi Ito | Post 6

Samuelnosite town...though she had never been there personally, Kasumi have heard of the place. Afterall, it's the only place that has a lot of missing people cases than every other settlement put together. Anniken was right that she had to make haste but with so little clues together, she could see the reason why the local investigators were stumped on the process.
"You're right. I feel that the best way to track the victims right now is to find similarities linked between them and work from there. I will be using my mind palace Ma'am...I shall be back with you shortly." Kasumi replied as she closed her eyes and concentrate to remember all the details of the victims. To the normal eyes, she was simply making strange gestures with her hand but in Kasumi's eyes, every piece of information on victim she had read for the case appeared before her eyes. A horizontal swiping motion meant she had switched on to focus another victim in question and a vertically swiping motion meant she had started comparison. Every now and then her head would twitch slightly before she finally clapped her hands together and open her eyes in realization.
"...The victims seems to be rather randomly picked but they all shared something in common. They all left their home rather willingly which means that they were likely invited to do so by the culprit. Now this culprit would have to be someone who can go house to house without causing suspicions. Perhaps someone in the line of business that requires traveling often. A handyman or a salesperson perhaps but currently I am leaning towards salesperson as it would have allow them to use their method of persuasion on the victims while appearing to be just doing their job. For now I needed to confirm with family of the victims if they had been approached by someone who was in those line of job. There's also the method of persuasion which needs to be figured out but the former take precedent I believe"

Kasumi was doing something. Justice did not know what it was; it seemed as though she was interacting with an unseen interface. It reminded her of one of her younger sisters, though she could make the interface palpable. Without the ability to ascertain what she did, she stayed quiet and trusted that it was lucrative for the purpose at hand—finding the criminals who did this.
She listened while the woman talked about different possibilities. It was possible that they were invited somewhere by a person they trusted, and they needed to talk to the families to confirm if it were a merchant or another profession. Her thoughts did not oppose the other girl’s own, and she found herself nodding in response.
”Of course, that sounds like a good idea. Where you lead, I shall follow. I’m sure these families are distraught about the disappearances, so let’s show sympathy and respect,” she advised. She thought that these people would be shaken, worried, and terrified for their family members. ”They might not be cooperative otherwise.” Kasumi Ito | Post 7

After confirming their next course of action, Kasumi would nod before she led the way towards the address of the nearest victim's family. She had no idea whether her conjecture was even true at this point...but without any other clues that would lead them, it was the best she could afford with what she have. They would soon arrive at one of the victim's house and after making sure the both of them are ready she would reach out to knock the door.
The door was opened abruptly by a little boy barely half her age, sporting a hopeful look at his face. The moment he saw it was Kasumi and Anniken however, his hope all but vanished from his face even moreso after he noticed there was no one else with them. Dispirited, the boy would call in his mother so that she could attend to them instead. An middle aged woman would emerged next, looking frantic and asking them of their progress with their search.
For the most part, Kasumi tried to console her as much as possible and assuring her that she would dedicate all she can on the task. It certainly took a bit for her to console the woman...she wasn't quite sure she could have without Anniken's assistance. Once she had settled down, only then Kasumi would pose her query regarding her conjecture.
"There was a handsome young lad who came here as a merchant before yes. Quite well mannered and easy on the eyes, I do believe she was quite taken with him in first place. Oh my....you don't think they eloped do you? But I wouldn't have said no to their union..."the mother of the victim said as she ponder on her daughter's disappearance.
Kasumi frowned a bit at that, not quite finding it unlikely that the man eloped with her daughter. At least, if it's the same culprit of all the disappearance then that would mean he would have eloped with dozens others of all sorts of gender, ages and the like...nay, she felt it was more likely that this gentleman was involved in their disappearance somehow.
