Prior to this day, Koji considered himself a pacifist. But no more. When he heard the news, Cait Shelter's solemn and thoughtful guild master flew into an unbridled demon of grief and fury. He ran straight for the Quatro Cerberus cathedral.
The Exceed's Aera wings manifested upon his back, the white feathery appendages propelling him through Basalt Town, bypassing the floating structures as he made his way towards the grandiose building. He was a blinding streak of orange, too fast for potential sentries to notify their master in time.
Until he arrived upon the steps of the cathedral and used the momentum and the weight of his body to smash through the doors, a feral cry booming forth.
"SOVEREIGN PALE!"

Sovereign had wondered how long it would take for this to happen. The grief and fury that Koji would feel upon hearing the news about his younger brother, and how long it would take for the feline to realise who did it. Obviously it was an easy conclusion to come to. Who else had qualms against such a passive group? Besides, Sovereign was sure to leave clues and crumbs behind. He wanted Koji to know it was him, he wanted to know the pain of losing family, of losing someone you love. Cathedral doors were blasted off its hinges, the sound of its weight colliding into the ground made everything tremble, the already broken chandelier above now swinging back and forth. "Yes, it is I." Sovereign spoke calmly, standing at the other end of the cathedral with his back towards him. He was looking up at the stained glass windows, smiling at them as if Koji was no threat at all.
"You know, you could have just knocked."

Underneath his orange jacket, tiger stripes glowed into existence. Upon closer inspection, the stripes would reveal themselves to be formed out of Japanese lettering. 激怒.
Koji's heart pounded, and the lights from the broken chandelier pulsed brighter and dimmer in time with it. A brother's pain - the emptiness in his heart the shape of an innocent felid - swelled and screamed in rage. And the source of that pain was standing in front of him. Nothing mattered but exacting retribution. Nothing mattered but taking righteous vengeance for the death of a loved one. My brother. Koji started shaking, and he knew that his sanity was buckling under the pressure.
He didn't care about that, either. The power felt too good-too strong. He wanted it. He wanted Sovereign to pay. He wanted the monster to suffer, screaming, and then die for what he had done. Koji will make him howl for mercy before he tore the man apart. The murderer deserved nothing less.
Koji did not hesitate, he charged forward at the man, wielding his katana in his paws to sever the man's head from its body.

Sovereign knew Koji hid rage inside of him, there was no way someone could have gone head to head with his maniac of a brother and kept a level head while doing it. The guild master of Cait Shelter was showing his true colours, or perhaps 'stripes' as it were. That's what Sovereign liked to see, unbridled rage and pain standing right before him. 'Beautiful.'Koji sped forwards and slashed with his katana, Sovereign did not move, and the katana sliced his head off completely. It soared through the air, and landed on the ground with a thud. But there was one key element that signified that Koji had still missed, essentially. Black ethernano gushed out of the neck of Sovereign, and the body turned around while grabbing the mace from his buckle, attempting to slam it into Koji's chest. The guild master had attacked a fake, a perfect copy of the real Sovereign.
"Up here." A voice echoed throughout the guild hall, Sovereign standing on a balcony nonchalantly leaning on the banister. Upon saying that, his body would begin to flicker in and out of existence with red lights and black smoke. Dotting up on the ground would be more of these shadow clones, all smiling that devilish grin that was now a signature sight of the Quatro Cerberus leader.

Perhaps it was fortunately that the quick clean death was given to but a clone, for the pain inside Koji's heart still desired more. Torture. He wanted to torture Sovereign before he killed him. Simple as that.
The decapitated figure slammed its mace into Koji's chest, flinging the feline backwards. White wings flapped behind him, using the momentum of the slam to bring Koji upwards into the sky and away from that clone. Slitted pupils fixated upon that man on the balcony. Another clone? No matter. He'll crush them all.
Koji slashed his katana in the direction of the man who had spoken. Flying forth would be the solid script words 取り組む. Should it hit the Sovereign, it throw and pin him against the wall of the building.

The more this battle ensued, the more Sovereign noticed just how much Koji wanted to cause harm to him. He didn't speak at all, hardly even reacted to anything Sovereign was saying. Every move was made with an intent to kill, and Sovereign loved it. It was a delight to his eyes. The solid script words formed in the air and shot forwards, it slammed into the Sovereign on the balcony only to pin him against the wall and make the clone dissipate. "Wrong one!" "Which one is real?!" "Can't you find me?""Missed!" "You missed again!" The voices were a harsh cacophony of mocking echoes within the cathedral walls, the Sovereign's darted around the guild hall like flickering embers, their bodies appearing and reappearing up the stairs, swinging from the chandelier, popping up behind Koji in mid-air. There were many of them, a swarm of annoying insects. "Boo!" One of them screamed, attempting to slam their mace hard into Koji's leg and bring him to his knees.

Clones began appearing and disappearing all around him. Voices danced around him, but Koji remained unfazed. He only had one focus here today. And that was all he needed to be concerned about.
He snarled viciously as he felt a mace collide with his leg. Had he been standing, his knee would have given way. Fortunately, Koji was still airborne, carried aloft by his Aera wings. As it would, he only flapped harder to zip out of the way of any more impeding attacks from that mace.
Koji brought his katana up and using the momentum from his flight, swung it around in a full 360 around him with the intention of decapitating the many clones around him.

The mace slammed into Koji, but he was quick to use his wings to dart forwards through the air and avoid any more follow up attacks in that second. As he did so, the katana he wielded was spun around in a circle as he cut through the clones, though some managed to avoid the attack completely and reappear somewhere else. Laughing even more, their voices would fill the cathedral, making it disorientating enough to struggle keeping track of them. When Koji's began to slow down and end his attack, all Sovereign's would freeze in place, even if they were in mid-air. There was a couple seconds as they floated and paused, before their necks snapped back to look at Kojihime. Grinning, their bodies would dart towards the exceed in the form of swirling black mass of dark power. This energy would spiral around him from various angles, before converging into a single point where Koji was, to not only crush him slightly but also to then detonate and explode.

The heads he managed to decapitate were satisfying. But not satisfying enough. The more clones he slew, the more came to take their place. Soon, he was aware of a new development. Black energy spiralled around him. His eye darted around frantically trying to keep track but it was just impossible.
Koji howled in pain and fury as the darkness collapsed around him like a dead star, and exploded. When the dust settled, burn marks replaced the glowing Solid Script stripes on Koji. His orange coat was badly singed, and patchy in some places, exposing his black and white fur underneath.
More enraged than in pain, the exceed continued his fighting with renewed vigour. He brought his katana forward and swung it in an arc, producing a series of glowing text consisting of two Solid Script words: 弱体化 and 刀 that swirled in the air. The words would then be flung towards any remaining clones around him. Should 弱体化 hit, the characters would latch on towards the clone's body like a leech, growing tentacle-like tendrils and snaking them towards any open orifices in the clone's face to begin sapping strength. Should 刀 hit, the characters would take the shape of miniature forms of Koji's katana and do what blades do best.

The force of the explosion made the walls of the cathedral shake, dust from the wooden beams above falling down, and the chandelier shook even further. Koji was taking a substantial amount of damage, and Sovereign couldn't help but laugh manically at the sight of the injuries he had. But that moment of joy set him apart from the rest of the clones who were not laughing. He was on the ground, his flickering body slowly coming to a halt as two magical attacks came flying towards him. The first attack crashed into the ground by him, only just narrowly missing him as he gasped and jumped out the way. But then the second hit him hard, the script magic morphing into miniature blades before digging into him. "Ow." Scowling, he stood still and glared up at the exceed with murderous intent. He then clicked his fingers, and his body would shimmer with white light before his consciousness transferred into the hollow body of a clone. In a split second, the ethernano it was formed of became flesh, healthy and unscathed.

Although some of his attacks hit, they did not have much effect. Nonetheless, Koji was unfazed by the failure of his spells. It only meant that he had to try harder.
He raised his katana skyward and as he did so, multiple magic seals shimmered into existence on the ceiling of the cathedral. Channelling his magic into these runic circles, the Cait Shelter mage slashed his katana downwards. In the same motion, steel Solid Script words, ケージ, crashed downward from the magic seals, raining down like deadly giant hail to trap and pin the many clones against the ground.

Giving Sovereign no time to breath or react accordingly, Koji summoned forth a pelting storm of metallic script words. They rained down with ferocity, shattering tables and chairs, slamming into clones and quickly whittling down the numbers. Each would scream and laugh, the weight of the metal holding them to the ground or dispersing their bodies entirely. Before long, it left the real Sovereign standing in the centre of the cathedral, holding up against the weight of magic that tugged down at him. It put him at a disadvantage, and he grimaced at the sensation of feeling so vulnerable and on display like this. Running ahead, he'd use a shadowy human mass to launch him up into the air, his body spiralled round as he gripped his mace tightly in an attempt to hit Koji with it.

Koji's spell caused indiscriminate destruction on the cathedral inside. The screams were music to his ears. The laughs… not so much. What it did succeed in, was leaving the real Sovereign alone. There was a whirl of fabric and shadows as the man launched towards Koji.
Flapping his wings, the exceed dived underneath the man, narrowly missing the mace. However as Koji flew underneath the man, he raised his katana upwards in an attempt to slice Sovereign in half from below.

As he haphazardly swung his weapon forwards, Sovereign grunted when he missed and overextended himself a little too much. Koji dived underneath him with a flap of his wings, and brought out his blade to try and cut Sovereign in half in one clean motion. However, projecting his own magic downwards right at the last moment, he managed to block the attack with a hastily made clone of himself, which had barely formed into anything resembling the guild master, but rather, an amorphous blob of black magic. Falling back down to the ground, ethernano swelled around his body just before he landed, his feet daintily landing on a broken organ as the fabric of his clothing came to rest at his side once more. Grinning, Sovereign would turn back to face Koji, and gradually pull away at his mask. The metal clasps unhinged themselves, and he kept his fingers just about covering his face. There was discolouration in the skin, but what was mainly visible were his eyes, burning with a violet flame as he so calmly gazed upon the exceed. His lips moved as he uttered something quietly, and he'd pray his spell would take effect on the creature. They'd find themselves plunged into a black void, with the cries of Topaz echoing all around him. It would seem to last an eternity, until the corpse of his dead brother would come rushing towards him, inflamed and aiming to harm his psyche.

Koji's sword went through the amorphous blob of black magic. No matter, with another flap of his wings, he spun around to face the man once more. Much to the exceed's bemusement, Sovereign removed his mask. The cat's singular crimson eye blazed into violet ones.
Perhaps it was because Koji only possessed one eye. Perhaps he was too grief stricken to be influenced by anything more, but Sovereign's spell failed. Instead of being plunged into a black void, his vision grew only hazy, although echoes of his departed brother remained in his ears.
"Enough!" He boomed with a snarl. The efforts only made to anger the exceed further.
Given that Sovereign was still fastened in place from the earlier grapple, Koji's let his magical energy surge through his body once more. Again, tiger stripes consisting of Japanese characters (激怒) glowed brightly against his fur.
Koji dived towards Sovereign like a torpedo, his katana aimed towards the man's heart to impale it through.
