Orion was definitely having a rough night. His face was tired, and his hands were full. Carrying the drunken man on his shoulder, he opened the door and tossed him outside. He had been one of those who were angry drunks, insulting everyone and anyone who was found inside the bar. The barkeep was really hesitant about doing anything, because the man was a wizard who was a part of some unknown distant guild. Orion, however, had no qualms about tossing out the thrash, especially ones who insult his beautiful unruly hair.
"Stay out of here until you're sober," Orion clapped his hands, making a point to glare at the half-conscious wizard. He was an easy opponent. The man had only known simple spells, and even they were no match for Orion's own. God Slaying was a powerful thing, albeit very dangerous as well.
Looking up, Orion saw a silhouette approaching the bar. The person seemed to be less impressed by his actions. He waved, before realizing he knew the person who was fast approaching his position. "Hey, you! I didn't expect to see you here of all places!"

Another day, another errand to take care of. This time the trip brought her all the way to Rhyolite village known for selling animals parts belonging to mythical beasts. A couple of them were rather difficult to get in particular that she had to resort to question the locals on how to get them. Just as she walked past the bar, her eyes caught sight of a drunken man tossed out like he was a garbage bag accompanied soon after by a familiar voice. The voice then called out her, removing any doubt of the identity of it's owner.
"Oh it's you Mr Prima. I was just passing by on an errand of mine."she replied, shrugging slightly. They have met each other several time in the past...of which some episodes she would rather not recount right now. Some things are better left to be forgotten yes. Her eyes would focus on the drunken man lying on the ground before her.
"I see that you're working as a bouncer now. Anything for a bottle eh?"she asked, folding her hands slightly across her chest in a teasing tone. The man had always smelled like alcohol...well, both cigarette and alcohol. Still, she supposed it was fitting that he could be found here...just as the woman herself could be found near the library or the local bookstore.

"Ah, errand hey?" There really was nothing much here in Rhyolite. Most of everyone had nothing, and the rest had even less. More than like, Orion thought that the young mage had some sort of a mission in the area. Or maybe she was just looking at the meager collection of books in the town's dusty and really decrepit library. Rhyolite was not a town to be proud of, but it was a town of hardworking people. That counted for something.
"A free bottle? Nah," Orion waved his hand, "this lucky chap had the gall to smash the bottle I paid for! This is what he gets for inciting trouble when I'm around." The bottle was a fine one, newly ordered and bubbled enticingly at Orion. It was a sad day when this buffoon had smashed it while making a tomfoolery of himself.
The man paused for a moment, before starting "Hey, how about you join me for a round?" He grinned, gesturing towards the bar, "First round is on me! It'll be fun!" The young woman needed to relax a bit more, and Orion was trying his best to help Kasumi on that end.

After hearing the reason behind such a rough treatment, any sympathy she probably have felt for the drunk had basically vanished. If one cannot hold their liquor, then it would be best for them to not drink in public. Even moreso if they were a mage...their powers could blow up into something big if they had no inhibitions to suppress them. She nodded slightly at first until he propose her to join him for a drink.
Well, that was definitely unexpected. While they did leave each other in good spirits never did she thought that Orion would treat her to anything. Perhaps he was lonely drinking by herself and needed someone to talk with. Or perhaps he felt sorry for the library book he tore. Either way, she'd get a free drink out of it.
"Very well. I'll take that offer."
With that, Kasumi would began making her way inside the bar so as to look at her surroundings. Eyes were immediately drawn to her and she realized she couldn't have been more out of place in her suit. Still, the purplehead decided to ignore the stare and wait to be led to empty table either by Orion or barmaids.

Orion grinned as the young woman accepted his offer and walked into the bar. HE had half expected her to say no, and the other half of his expectation was with her hitting him in the groin for suggesting something that was beneath her. But it seems Kasumi did enjoy drinks as much as the next mage.
"Stop staring." Orion grunted, and the patrons of the bar quickly went about their business. Kasumi seemed to have garnered some attention, but Orion was not having it tonight. "Don't mind them, it's been a while since they've last seen a decent woman."
With a wave, Orion pointed towards the spot he had been sitting in. "What is your poison? Order anything, I'll take care of it." The man snapped his fingers as the only waitress of the establishment ran up to the table with a beam. Orion was a regular, and Orion was also their unpaid bouncer. He was treated well.
"Tell me though, how have you been?" Orion asked after the waitress had taken their order. The question was open, and Orion really was curious as to what thew young woman had been up to. A mage's life was a very interesting one to say the least.

Like a gentleman, Orion discouraged the lookers from oggling her which impressed her once more but she didn't say anything out loud. Instead she would shake her head in return, burrowing her hands into her pockets. She was appreciative of the treatment at least and soon pulled a chair to his side.
"Give me Whiskey Highball" the girl replied when asked for her drink. Not wanting to get inebriated, she had decided to choose a drink with low amount of alcohol content. It didn't surprise her when Orion ordered beer, she had always pegged him for the type. Her cheek would rest against the palm of her hand as she listened to Orion's question.
"No complaints. Got promoted recently since we last met, but that's about it."she replied vaguely while shrugging her shoulder before she posed the question back to him.
"What about you?"

Orion took a drink from his mug, nodding as Kasumi told him of her promotion, "Hey, that's a good thing right?" Then he paused, "Promotion? This is from your guild right? You guys have a promotion system?" Orion was a little baffled. Promotion was for work. Cait Shelter did not have a promotion system, as far as he knew, save maybe to an S-Rank position.
"I'll need to ask master about my promotion, Orion grunted before leaning back. "Me, though? A lot of work. A lot of training, and not a whole lot of anything else." It was mostly the usual mage-life for Orion.
"Actually, I recently found more information about the deities. A new member of the guild is a Celestial Mage who uses keys that are somewhat tied to the notion of gods." Orion had been mulling over the topic, which had actually introduced the two of them, "Wanna hear about it?" Of course she did, Orion smirked inwardly. She had been a person who seemed to like discovering new things about the world.

Kasumi would lift her own glass to her lips, sipping it slightly. Orion's surprise was expected...most mage guilds she read don't usually bothered with. The sweet taste of the bourbon filled her lips as she mull how best to explain her answer.
"Yes, though not in that sense. It's just some more responsibility one would get to shoulder because of their aptitude."
Not wanting to elaborate further on her job, Kasumi was relieved to hear Orion changed the topic towards the deities. She was somewhat interested in it, especially considering how her own guild was directly linked with one. After taking another sip, she would put down the glass, trying to feign little interest in contrast to how she really felt.
"Perhaps. What can you tell about them?"

Orion chuckled, "Responsibility hey?" He was most likely the last person anybody in the guild would entrust something important to. Orion had a reputation of someone who might not be the most reliable person, and certainly not the smartest. He liked to think that it suited him, the stereotype that is, because of his big and burly nature. Yet, was he really that irresponsible? "I mean, I suppose it works. Your guild. Seems very stringent, hey?"
"These deities. Unlike ones you might have known, or have seen so far, are less interested in the world. They are beings of...a higher calibur." Orion was not sure how to truly explain what he had found in his last solo mission, "Deities, these ones you can't kill or tame. God Slayers. Magic- Lost Ones even, they are neither affected by them nor can we invoke their powers." A darkness invaded Orion's face, recounting the being he had met, "They are malicious, with no regard to life, and very selfish in nature. Gods: a whole 'nother calibur. No God Slaying can touch these beings." He sighed, his previous efforts having made a scar on his own psyche. He turned towards Kasumi, "Have you ever heard of such...beings in your readings? I fear we were searching for something entirely different from what I have initially thought of the first time we met."

Kasumi would give a non-comittal shrug upon Orion's inquiry about the nature of her guild so as to leave it up to his interpretation. She did wonder if Orion belonged to one himself. He looked moreso the vagabond type...what kind of guild would let him working jobs like recovering a pig after knowing his magical capability?
Their conversation drifted upon gods which Orion had met recently. One which his magic didn't work upon supposedly, surprising the female mage. Then again, when she think deeply about it they shouldn't have. Afterall if one were to study theocracy, there were many religions that were made up of a group of major gods leading younger ones. So it would certainly be more difficult to kill them compared to others.
"No, I can't say I have. There are books which mentioned about major and minor deities but they only touched it rather briefly. They didn't go into details on the difference of powers, behaviors or the like. They are deities afterall, meant to be beyond mortal understanding." she contributed before raising her glass for another sip.
"You speak as if you have just met one recently Mr Prima."

Orion nodded, it was true. There were religions which existed that were dedicated to the worship gods and goddesses. These were pantheons, groups and families of deities that ruled specific domains of the world. They were given thoughts and feelings, motivations and persuasions. They were, as well, weak and not on the same level as what Orion had recently met.
"I have...met one." Orion admitted, his face darkening at the very thought of almost dying at its hands. It. Not he. Not she. It. This being was not even of the mortal realm. It was divinity, if divinity was personified. It would have killed Orion, if it did not find the god slayer amusing.
"Its power, Kas," Orion started, "Its power was overwhelming." He felt it surround him, caress his very soul, and finally felt it almost crush him in to oblivion. "I'm a god slayer, but this...thing, it will never be slain." If there was a power-on-high, this was it. "But then, who would believe the ramblings of a drunk, right?" Orion chuckled, raising his glass to his guild mates who would not believe his story. Nobody would believe his story. Outrageous, and absolutely true. no one can ever live in absolute truth.

The look of terror on Orion's face made Kasumi frowned slightly in response. The purplehead knew he was strong...stronger than some of the other mage she had grown close and hang out with. That he would speak about the being with such reverence...she can only imagine the battle that had unfold between the two.
"I would take your words with a grain of salt but I wouldn't say I outright disbelief you."she started as she contemplated on the new piece of information. If there was such a being, she would worry more about it's alignment and whether or not it would pose a danger to herself or the guild she belongs to.
"So you're saying you have met this Almighty Spirit yes? Aside from it's powers, what else did you figure out during your confrontation?" At this point of time, Kasumi didn't even bother to hide her fascination with the divinity in question. It may be, as Orion put it, the rambling of a drunk and while she doubted that she could do much about it directly she had her own connections. It's all about making sure that these beings would have something else to keep them in check...perhaps even arranging circumstances in the form of coincidence. That way she would be able to stop them without putting herself or her guild in the harms way.

"That's a good trait, you know," Orion nodded, taking a sip from his mug of beer, "always doubting, always questioning. Never take anyone's word for granted." Being too trusting in this world was never good. People have become worse and worse through the years, and those who would take advantage of another are at every corner.
He sighed, shaking his head at the question, "You misunderstand," the man started, now turning towards the woman, "it was not a confrontation at all. It was a one-sided battle. No...It was no battle, it was toying with me." Orion never felt in control the whole time, "The being. It was beyond anything. And its gone now, until it sees fit to return and mess with us mortals once again."
There really was nothing to learn anymore about the deity, "Tell me." Orion sighed, "Tell me then what would happen if this world faces something of that magnitude? Of a being that only needed to blink to destroy continents?" The world had survived The Calamity, if barely. This was a different type of apocalypse. "Will the guilds be strong enough? Wizards banding together?" Orion took a huge gulp of his beer, waiting for her response.

For the mystery connoisseur, it had always been her nature to not take things at face value. Of course, outright discounting something was not good either...so she had to maintain a perfect balance between the two. At this point of time, she saw no reason that Orion would have lied to her about the existence of this divinity so when Orion praised, she merely raised her shoulder in shrugging manner as if saying it was nothing.
Orion that continued by explaining further that his confrontation was less of a battle and moreso a one-side beat down. She had felt Orion's power for herself and figured at the very least the Lightning God Slayer would have given this deity a run for his money. But more worrying was the fact that this thing did not state it's intention whatsover, as if it had just thought it would be fun to play around with Orion. He then asked her to contemplate the possibility should such a being decided to attack them for whatever reason. It didn't take long for her to even think about the consequences.
"Many will die. Destruction will follow and there will be little we can do about it."she stated the answer in a cold matter of fact way. She was not the overly optimistic type and rather live in the cold hard reality then pretending to live in an imaginary one as doing so would not put turned them away. Yet it did not mean she would simply rolled over in the face of it. She would do whatever she can to avoid such conclusion.
"But that would only be so if we are unprepared. We'll need more information on this being. Whether it's good or evil. Every single information would help."

"Many will die..." Orion mulled it over. Deathw as nothing new in this world. People lived and people died. It was the cycle of life. But then, it was still a cycle. A being like the one Orion met, it was a perversion of the cycle of life. It did not follow natural laws. It was, itself, the law.
"It's more likely that all will die." That part was what scares Orion the most. Orion, the most brash, and probably one of the more fearless wizards in Cait Shelter, was afraid of death. Absolute death, at the hands of a deity that saw the world as nothing more than its play thing.
Orion smiled softly, "I think the problem with that thought process is the fact that there is no information at all." Orion had tried hard to look for information, and the very existence of this being seemed to defy logic, "What would be your next step after realizing that this was an enemy that we will never know about until it strikes?" Orion was curious. Kasumi seemed to have a level-head, much more refined than Orion's. Maybe she could figure out this puzzle.
