What were masters for? Orion chuckled to himself as he stood outside the guild, waiting for Koji to arrive. He had been in deep thought lately, and was hoping for his own guild master to help him. What were masters for, right? He needed someone to bounce ideas from, someone to echo his thoughts, and maybe give their own opinion of it. After all, what were masters for?
"I wonder..." Orion whispered to himself, casting his gaze skywards. The clouds were sparse, and the sun was in full bloom. It was a great day, a perfect day, and certainly nothing can ruin it. His heart clenched at that thought. There was something that can ruin it.
He heard steps from somewhere behind him, having turned himself away from the direction of the guild. Orion was not sure how much he really wanted to see Koji, but he was here now. He had asked for advice, and he will hopefully get it. The question, however, was why had the master asked to meet him here in a training ground of all places?
"Master, took you long enough," Orion chuckled, turning towards the cat he called his superior, "old age getting to you?"

He found the child standing by his lonesome in the training grounds. Silent pawsteps brought the guild master close to the lightning slayer until he remained but a few feet away. It did not surprise Koji that the man had detected his presence, despite the exceed's natural feline grace allowing him to sneak up on the quietest of mice. Orion Prima was likely the strongest member of Cait Shelter.
"You wish." Koji said, his voice solemn although the twinkle in his eye betrayed his truer emotions. Long, and dagger-like, his claws were unsheathed from the slits on his sleeves. At the moment, they hung loosely and casually on either side of the cat. Motionless, but ready to strike at the shortest possible notice.
"Do you know why I brought you here today?"

There was something a bit different from his master today. Something was amiss, and Orion was not sure whether to be frightened or to outright run away. He was never one to stay and face the wrath of his guild master, preferring to lay low until his temper tapered off. A cat's ire was not something to take lightly, after all. Especially not one who can perform magic.
"To be honest," Orion trailed off. He noticed it though. Claws, sharp and dangerous, were unsheathed. Orion felt his sixth sense warn him of danger. A danger he should not take lightly.
He cocked his head a little to the side, "Why the..." he motioned to his master's claws, "was it the beer barrels?! I swear I was going to pay them back! Two-fold!" Orion cried out, raising his hand in his defense.

Orion was caught off-guard, his master having swiped at him with his claws. The minute the attack had connected, Orion was forced to jump backwards and away from any other acts of aggression. His face was confused, and his mind even more so.
"What the fuck was that all about?!" Orion shouted, face contorted and eyes narrowed. "If this was because of the booze, then I understand the attack. But if it's not, then...what the fuck?!"
The god slayer did not draw his katana, nor did he get into a stance to fight. He was just...confused.

Although his exterior did not show it, Koji was surprised that his claws found their target. What did show on his face, however, was his disappointment.

"Defend yourself!" The exceed demanded, choosing to ignore the man's question. "Real enemies would have no need to explain themselves."

To punctuate this point, Koji summoned his magical energy and swiped his claws forward again. This time, instead of having his claws meet flesh, glowing Japanese characters forth burst. Carried forward by the momentum of his swipe, the Solid Script '失明'would sail towards Orion's eyes to blindfold the man.

The man dodged the attack, leaping backwards once more as he gritted his. He had almost retaliated, through sheer instinct, but he held himself. This was his guild master, not an enemy. Even though he was being attacked, Orion would not dare return the hit, not until he got an explanation.
"I have fought real enemies. Killed real enemies." Orion responded, his voice even, "You are no enemy. At least not until you tell me what is going on!"
Orion held his katana, sheathed, to defend himself. He will not attack. He needed a purpose for that.

As he spoke, gleaming crimson characters began to manifest all across his body, adopting a stripe-like pattern on his fur. The words '激怒' glowed menacingly across his body, as tit began infusing the exceed with great magical power.

Orion saw his master power-up. This cat was definitely not going easy, and Orion needed to be prepared for the worst. He was still confused. Very confused. The man had done nothing wrong for the most part. The worst he could think of was the bar tab he had under the name of the guild...which he eventually was planning to pay off...maybe...
His thoughts got in the way, and he was hit once again by the cat's claws. He grunted in pain, before leaping back and unsheathing his sword. If his master wants a fight, he will get one.
"A Thousand Cuts!"
Orion sprinted forward, katana out and aimed at his master. With quick succession, he slashed and diced, hoping that it would be enough to dissuade his master.
"Is this what you had wanted?" Orion shouted, eyebrows knit together as he prepared himself for another bout.

Koji's claws found their target, raking across Orion's face and drawing blood.

But at last, the man was responding. A cold feline smile crept up across Koji's face as he watched Orion's sword unshealth. Koji was familiar with katanas, having owned one himself. His own weapon was still strapped to his back, currently not in use.

As Orion's sword slashed before Koji, the feline took the brunt of the attack unflinchingly. The blade sliced across the fabric of his orange jacket easily and deep into his flesh, where blood visibly began oozing out in crimson rivulets.

Koji did not respond to the man's question, instead drawing magical power for another spell. As he bunched his muscles together and sprung skyward, manifesting a pair of pure white wings as he tapped into his intrinsic ability of Aera.

In the place of where he previously stood were the characters 失明. The Solid Script would glow a vengeful crimson before exploding in a concussive shockwave, enveloping Orion in the blast.

The blast hit Orion hard, pushing him off of his feet. He caught himself in time, however. The man was now getting a bit more serious. Orion would not let himself lose a fight, not even against his master, if he had a fighting chance. He was not one to roll over. However, he's still pretty confused as to why the cat was attacking him.
"One more!" With a dash, Orion slice and diced. Orion was sure that his magic would not be needed, the destructive capabilities were too much to use in a non-lethal situation. Plus, the last time he unleashed his full power, he had to pay for the repairs of the training ground with his own money.
One more.
His master was too calm about this situation. Orion knew something was up, and it sure wasn't his alcohol bill. Or maybe it was and his master was really really angry about it.

Koji's smile did not waver as he watched his attack push Orion off his feet. His feathery white wings extended and flapped quickly, bringing Koji backward as he tried to avoid the brunt of Orion's 'thousand cuts'. This time the slashes fell across his knees and shins and drawing more blood. The pain that burned from the slashes would have made Koji's leg give, if not for the fact that he was suspended by his wings.

Seeing that the man was finally taking the fight seriously, Koji reached behind him and pulled forth his own katana. The steel weapon clashed against Orion's before aiming to strike across the man's arm. Should the attack hit, the characters '取る' would appear across the wound.

"Okay, that fucking hurt..." Orion trailed off, noticing that the symbols had been etched onto his skin. He wasn't sure what it was about, but he didn't feel good about it. No, he felt a drain on his own life force as the symbol seemed to pulse.
Orion grunted in pain, but held his silence as he stared at the cat. He really wasn't going to use magic, but this was a special case.
"Be ready!"
The god slayer charged once again, but instead of heading straight to the cat, he leaped up and charge lightning onto his katana. With a slash, a burst of lightning was sent towards his master.
"Eclipse!"
Orion smirked, not betraying the fact that he was slightly worried for his master. He knew the cat-man was versed in combat. Orion, however, was not known for holding back when his magic gets involved.

Upon seeing that his sword strike fell true, concern briefly lanced across Koji's expression – but he did his best to quell his expression. The wounds he had sustained from Orion's earlier sword strikes began glow a light blue as the characters '受け取る' formed across them like stylised bandages. Slowly, the cuts began to knit themselves together.

His eye widened in surprise as the man channelled his deadly lightning magic into his sword. The iron blade crackled with deadly energy. Thinking fact, Koji erected the Solid Script '落胆', which expanded to a size big enough to function as a shield. Although Orion's katana smashed into the shield, it held itself. It glowed crimson on impact and reflected back intense magical energy towards Orion. The lightning, however, was conducted through the Solid Script and struck Koji with a vicious force.

Koji fell from the air, his wings disappearing behind him as he crumpled to the ground. There, he panted on all fours, and closed his eyes. The angry red '激怒' that previously augmented his magical power faded, and was replaced with the softer blue '癒す', which began glowing and healing his injuries further.

Orion took another hit, the shield giving off a force when struck by Orion's lightning. Without any further animosity, the god slayer flipped himself mid-air, and landed with a soft thud. His master was down, but not out yet. Orion was not that kind of a person to attack the defenseless, nor was he a person to struck someone who was down, especially when that someone was his master.
"So..." He started awkwardly, "Care to tell me what that was all about?"
Looking no better, Orion wiped away blood that had started to drench his body. Pain coursed through his torso, but he ignored it in favour of looking at his master, waiting for a response.
"Listen, you can't brush this off as nothing. That was definitely something, so tell me what the hell is going on?" He was not leaving without an explanation from the cat-man himself. And he can be as stubborn as a bull.
