Sometimes, Alecx couldn't help but observe her surroundings, assessing the houses the people have put together using scraps and debris. It's a surprise accidents and collapses don't happen as often as she thought it would. It was so far from the life she knew after being taken in by the Lyons, but also being so close to her. After all, she spent the first few year of her life seeking shelter in places like this and she was somehow back to where she started; the guild she joined resided in this town.
Fortunately, they required nothing of her today. She found herself in the better part of the town, strolling after visiting Odin's Spear for the day. Without anything keeping her interest in the said guild, she took her leave to find better things to do. Perhaps hone her skills or read another one of those scholarly books she failed to complete the other day, but that drifted to the back of her mind when a sweet smell wafted through her nostrils. She swiveled where she stood, making her way to the bar that produced such a mouth-watering scent.
Just like that, she was inside the establishment, sitting herself on one of the bar stools and minding her own business. Apparently, what emitted such a sweet smell were the tarts the bar had as a special. Although it wasn't as rare to have such a pastry in this part of town, she didn't pass on the opportunity to have some. She ordered one and gave the bartender a curt nod when he acknowledged her. As the woman waited, she hoped there wouldn't be a drunk coming to ruin her day. It had been relaxing so far and she'd like to keep it that way.

There was a time when Orion was dirt poor. He never had money, nor did he ever care for it. His family was supposedly very rich, in the past, yet the thought of acquiring mass amounts of wealth never really appealed to him. Money was very corruptible, and it easily sways the weak minded to its bidding. Orion, however strongly built, knew of his vices. Money, therefore was not a good thing for him to get attached to. And he never really gets the chance to anyways, because of his vices.
Alcohol and cigarettes were the main proprietors of his wallet. And here he was in Shale Town, ready to once again shell out money to try out their famous alcoholic beverages. It was a bit different from Rhyolite, with its building being in a much better state. He could tell that the metals worked better for protection, compared to the wooden shambles Rhyolite seemed to be composed of. It was a change of scenery, and Orion only had one thought in mind: beer.
"One of your finest, my good man!" Orion giddily sat on the bar, clapping his hands as he waiting for the barkeep to get to his order. But then, a smell invaded his nostrils. To the left. He glanced and saw a woman, eating a tart of all things, in the middle of a bar, which served alcohol. A tart. "Hey, lady. You seriously eating a pastry in the middle of a bar?" Orion laughed, "They must taste mighty good for you to ignore the booze lining the walls!"

Fortunately, life didn't always give things to her in a silver platter. It taught her how to handle life before her foster parents took her in. Even the makeshift fork she held in her hand seemed nicely made, despite being nothing alike from the carved once she held a few years back. It was crooked, it had dents, but it was still better than the one she found on the road to use when she was young. And the tart was expectedly small. It was simple. Unlike the lavish ones she used to have back at home that were filled to the brim with fruits and custard, this was just open pastry base with a flat, yellow filling at the center. It should take her no more than ten minutes to eat. Convinient, for she wanted to leave as soon as possible. The smell of alcohol stung her nose and the last thing she wanted was to give anyone a chance to converse with her in a bar. Although many would disagree, she thought this wasn't the best place to form relationships with people.
Unfortunately, almost immediately after she started digging into her treat, someone had invited themselves into her space. The woman deeply hoped it wasn't another drunk. A few of her guildmates had already been enough trouble the past few days getting drunk and causing havoc in the guild, she didn't need another one now. She glanced at the man from the corner of her eyes, not bothering to turn towards him.
"I'm afraid I don't look forward to getting drunk while the sun is out." she said, skimming through the unfamiliar alcohols adorning the walls. Why did she think coming to the bar was such a good idea? The temptation of the sweets were too great for her to deny. She returned her attention to her tart. Another part of the piece gone into her mouth.

The drink placed in front of him was darker in colour. Darker than those served in Rhyolite Village, which was the colour of piss. This one is a darker colour of piss. The bubbles bubbling, the light foam on the rim, and the water droplets around the mug were all very inviting. Without further ado, Orion grabbed the drink and too his first tentative chug.
"Holy shit, this is good!" Orion exclaimed, before ordering three more as he started to finish the one he had in his hand, "Fuckin' Rhyolite needs to step it up!"
Looking towards the woman still eating her pastry, Orion raised his hands once again, "One of that too for me!" The pastry looked good, very good, and smelled divine. He needed to have one. "Drinking is a leisure activity. Whether the sun is out or not, it is to be enjoyed!" The pastry took less than a moment to arrive, but he left it alone, instead facing the woman beside him, "How about it? Let me grab you one. No strings attached. You've got to loosen up a little you know!" Orion grinned, finally taking the pastry in front of him and taking a bite.
