“finally….he’s asleep,” Gamma had sighed as he crawled out of Sigma’s bedroom. He had been fussy all day, crying for no reason other than wanting attention. Everytime Gamma would walk away to do something he’d start screaming as if he was a howler monkey. Perhaps it was the Lacrima causing it, but honestly he was a baby so Gamma couldn’t figure it out. “I’m so hungry,” he spoke to himself grabbing his lacrima baby monitor, which had cost a pretty penny mind you. Walking down the stairs to the main guild hall, to the kitchen he took a deep breath.
As his soft footsteps entered the area, he had caught a whiff if wine. “damn that smells good,” he responded following the ever sweet adult scent. Gamma’s stomach rumbled as he came across the women, “Oi….can I have some of that?” words shook out of him, “otherwise you might look like a drunk,”

Gamma was struggling to adapt to the life of being a mage that had to care about the people around him. Granted all he cared about was his family's safety so if he had to pretend he cared about these people he would. Though Theta was optimistic saying if he let people closer and looked for the good, he’d make friends rather then being completely alone all the time. Which...maybe she was right. Instead he took what little provisions they had to the main hall, and began to take up some cooking. The scents rolling across the whole guild, “Hmmm….It’s not a whole lot of food, but still. It looks good,” he muttered to himself bringing it out to the counter with his apron on that had some cheesy wording, “kiss the chef” purposely designed to annoy people like him.

These people were almost unholy in the way that they appeared in front of him. This didn’t seem like a kind of teleportation magic, but it also didn’t seem demonic. Rather it just seemed something ominous like a curse or blessing to some. Some part of his bones shivered in their presence as he worried for the children behind him. Gamma however was faced with this presence, but yet with a duty that shackled him to the people behind him. The gray woman, then the other one, who had remained silent. Though whom he could only assume was the guild master and most likely the co-master, or however they worked. The bright blue eyes turned to both of them, “Yes, I want to be a mage here,” the determination was strong, even if he was judgingly watching.
Theta remained quiet as she held Sigma close keeping him quiet. Gamma had the fear that if he was turned away the family would surely starve and die. Or the very least one or all of them would die. The first woman’s smile seemed genuine but he had been tricked before. People who did evil hide behind the grace of kindness, but wandering eyes always showed distrust, or evaluation. Taking a deeper breath he sighed, “Those are my….children and my sister. If I leave here today...I don’t know how many of us will survive… At the very least If I die as a mage I know someone will look after them!” he responded as the twins jumped up running up to the quiet woman, almost making Gamma run to grab them, but Theta prevented him. Though the twins didn’t touch the women, they just looked up at her, “HI” they chanted, “Pretty,” the boy complimented.
“Psi, Phi,” he commented calling them back but they failed to listen. Gamma bit his lip as Theta moved forward, “Please….they are young Homunculi. We can’t keep walking around aimlessly, because their bodies ache from the Lacrima’s inside and we can’t do anything to help if were in danger.” her voice was soft, “The scars on our chests are where the Lacrima are,” she pointed out mainly the children’s and Gamma’s who were clearly visible. “ Gamma also has a lost magic. He’s designed to kill devil’s. At least that’s what they were making him for.” Gamma nudged the women for fear that these people would know about them.

This sucked so bad. They finally got into Shale Town, and he was left in the impoverished area that only got grumps for food. Needless to say it was hard to get into this town considering the Guild that ran the show. But...they were strong, and the defenses rivaled Aegis. Gamma had little other options for viable options considering he is technically on the run from his creators, so they call themselves. Yet him and Theta had nowhere to turn to, no place that could offer the amount of protection they required to keep the children alive. Psy and Phi, who were old enough to walk deserved to play with other kids and have fun unlike what they had, and Sigma was still a baby.
Navigating the city had proven to be difficult when you consider all the new and old constructs made around the damage from the calamity. Or people who were just in general shadier than a shadow from a lamplight. Gamma’s hands held the twins, keeping them from wandering away, and Theta held Sigma with maternal care. As they entered got to the gates, the blue haired slayer locked eyes with one of the guards. “I need to be a mage here,” the voice was cold but seemingly desperate as he kept the twins from running to tug the guards pants.
Theta tugged on Gamma’s shirt, “Calm down Gamma,” she tried easing the man only to have the guard intrigued, “We’re both Mages!” he responded sharply only to have the guard not really question to much, they gestured them inside and guided them to the seat, it appeared the guard was a mute or something of the sort. Theta took her seat and the twins moved to sit beside her, but Gamma, his pride, his anxiety every single fear that pulsed through his veins, all moved to his painful Lacrima scar visible across his chest. It hurt, but he didn’t have the patience to allow his kids (well adopted kinda sibling kids but you get the drift) to rot and always be on the run.
Whatever he’d have to do, he’d do it. Even if it meant selling his soul to the very Devil’s he slays.

While it succeeded it left some painful after magic use as the Lacrima at a young age exuded more than the small body could handle. The lab was cruel and he watched many others wither away and die. Finally after learning some of his own magic, maybe it was a piece of him, or maybe it was something he learned somewhere, he ate the crystal Lacrima that were left behind, with his “sister” Theta he fought his way out taking the three young Homunculi with him. One who were newborn, and the other two who were twins only a year older. After escaping they travelled around the continent looking for somewhere to take them in. Finally after searching they found home in Odin Spear, mainly due to their magic. Now he goes on missions for the guild and plays dad. |
