With the sun still high overhead, much of the day remained. This was fortunate for the blue, black-stripped cat. He ventured towards a portion of barb-wired fence, alongside it with his attention skipping about the ground just ahead of him. What subtle gales passed by furled the black shitagi and red hakama he oddly wore, headpiece as well caught upon the breeze just enough that he had to move a hand to swat a piece of fabric out of the day.
As he did, he returned his gaze towards the ground. He appeared rather interested in it, hunched over and peering at it in rather close detail. Despite his awareness peeking around him, it was focused acute enough to forgo what resided outside of his search specifically.
“Come t' think of it, it may be back a ways?” he questioned to himself.

Much to nobody surprise, Shale Town was Mercy's favourite place to wander around in. Its citizens and location were part of Odin's Spear territory, she felt most safe and in control here, despite its cold, metal exterior. She was striding merrily down a footpath, twirling a ring of silver keys around her finger. In fact, she was too absentminded to notice the furry obstacle in her path.
One moment she was running through combat strategies in her head – the next moment she found herself faceplanting onto the ground. With a sickening crack! the cartilage in her nose broke. As facial injuries tend to bleed a lot, a warm stream of crimson began spewing forth from her nostril.
"What the Helheim!" She cried, scrambling back to her feet with in intention of giving the furry mass a good kick – when she released it was not a furry mass, but a furry kitty.
"Kitty!" The teen squealed, emotions flipping from outrage to excitement, transforming her face into a bloodied mess of smiles.

Something fell over him. He had to blame the fact that his eyes were essentially glued to the ground just in front of him. It gave him a start, but inflicted far more than just a start to the individual that had tripped over him. “Wh-” he began, uttered with the fractured word ending abruptly in favour of righting himself and looking upon who it was that stumbled over him.
A sharp intake of air, a gasp, and hands that rushed to the front of his mouth was his initial response. It did not seem like a simple fall. He could see that blood was drawn, nose slightly deformed as a result of its encounter with the ground. “Sorry!” he blurted aloud without hesitation, but by then, she had already made a joyous exclamation at him.
“Uh – Are you okay, Miss?” he asked with a genuine tone of concern, only tinged mildly with a small portion of awkwardness. He could not possibly be pardoned for such an occurrence because of his air of adorability, could he? |

"It talks too!" She cried with ever more glee. It took a moment before the feline's concerned address was noticed by the teenager so proceeded to laugh and wave a hand dismissively in the air. "Oh I've had much worse, with big sis." To prove her point she wiped the blood away with her sleeve and sucked in any more blood which threatened to drip from her nose, creating a nose not unlike a snotty child.
"I just -" She tried to explain, crouching down to meet the cat at eye level. "- Never mind. You poor thing, what happened to your eye?" It was Mercy's turn to adopt concern, upon noticing the pirate-like patch. "Or are you dressing up like a pirate?! If so, omg, you're so cute!" She reached out, blood beginning to seem out of her nostrils once more, to squish the feline's cheeks.

“I doooo ...” It was a joyous exclamation in response to her deflation that Topaz could talk that began fairly enthused and then trailed off into a meek, inaudible oblivion.
“O-oh, I see.” He was unsure if he was able to forget the matter even if she had received worse from her sister. Unfortunately, Topaz could not relate. His sibling dynamic differed in those regards. The inability to quite grasp the stranger's dynamic was apparent on his face. A furrowed brow – his bestial visage was just tinged with a slight air of confusion, that's all.
“Oh, wow – I can probably do something abou--” Before he could reach towards the satchel at his side, his intention to fish something from it that could aid the wound, his eye was being asked about.
“Well – it's not hurt. Thanks, you're so nice! But I just cover it up so it doesn't set people on fire. It does that without this eye-patch I made,” he explained as his attention began to shift towards the ground. He could feel a rumble; but where was the faint quiver coming from? |

"Set people on fire?" Mercy repeated, surprise increasing her pitch. For a moment, she stared quizzically at him, trying to piece together the logic of a pirate costume saving people from spontaneous combustion. Scratching her lupine head, she deduced that the kitty must've been playing pretend. After all, that's the whole point of costumes.
"Oh that's so cute!" She decided, petting the feline's head. "I'm going to name you Mister Pirate and take you home with me!" If not stopped, Mercy would then proceed to scoop up the exceed into her arms.
"People won't be set on fire at home." She reassured playfully. "They're too strong for that." |

Topaz was scooped up. Unfortunately, his attention was elsewhere. Her words were muffled upon the feline’s ears as a result, akin to attempting to carry a conversation underwater. Where did his eyeline fall? Uncertain, but breaking from bordering trees was a large boar. It trampled out onto the path, found its bearings and sniffed at the air.

Around its ears, down its back, around its front - flames. The boar was no normal boar. It was large, dire, and its eyes lit upon the two. The hoisted Topaz was likely none the wiser of exactly what was going on, but it was definitely something. “What’s that?” He questioned, considering that, perhaps, it was what he was looking for from the start.

Its sights were upon Mercy Godfrey and it charged towards her. As it drew near, the horn atop its snouth - a golden ring glistened around the tip, clear gem sparkling from what light it managed to snare.

Mercy was a tad bit too busy to be noticing her immediate danger. Instead, she was playing with Topaz's fur, tickling his ears. That was, until, she finally realised that they were not alone. Slowly, confused pupils rose to meet the boar's glistening ruby eyes.

"Gullinbursti?" She squeaked in response to Mr Pirate's inquiry, recalling its likeness to a crude tapestry she'd seen in Asgard. Her pupils contracted, taking in the flames that licked the air where it's mane should have been.

Mercy dropped Mr Pirate back towards the ground – trusting his feline reflexes would cause him to land on his feet. With practiced ease she withdrew a wolf-headed Silver Key, just as the boar began charging towards her.

"Open the Gate of the Wolf! Fenris!" A monstrous wolf materialised to her side, charging towards the boar to intercept it's trajectory. Successful in diverting the course of the monster's direction, Fenris proceeded to set its jaws upon the boar's neck.

Have you ever had the pleasure of playing with the nicest cat ever? That was essentially what this was. His ears flicked about as she played with them, but Topaz was placid enough that he simply let it happen.

“Gullin-whosey?” Topaz asked. He was not familiar, but Topaz was certain something else arrived. His captor just announced it, after all. He was let go and upon touching down, spun and planted himself firmly to view the charging threat.

Did somebody just ring a doorbell? A large wolf appeared and intercepted the flaming swine. Thick, contesting hides produces a dull thump upon collision. The dire wolf’s teeth sank into the boar’s flesh. It squealed with a distorted tone perversing what one would expect to arise from a hog. As it did, flame spilled out as if it were blood and erratically swept the area.

It attempted to charge through the wolf and towards the girl. It never did shift its interest to any other - not yet. Topaz, at some point, was no longer in the area apparently, but something reappeared from above. It tore downwards at breakneck speeds and after reeling an arm back, slashed at its exposed back with a set of fire-forged claws. They burned a vivid blue as a red-jacketed feline a foot larger than Topaz landed atop the beast’s back.

Although Mercy was satisfied to see her faithful spirit making porkchops of the monstrous swine, the shrill squeals that subsequently emanated from it, set the teenager's teeth on edge. Both hands clamped down her wolf ears as she staggered backwards, trying to put as much distance between herself and the monster's growing flames. Courtesy to Fenrir's proximity however, the wolf suffered horrible burns from the blood-like fire that spewed forth, burning the fur and skin around its muzzle.

Caught by surprise from the flames, of whom both master and servant had assumed was only present on the exterior of the boar, but only the former was quick enough to avoid the boar's subsequent charge. The flaming beast crashed into Fenrir, carrying the wolf forward for several paces before the canine was able to scramble away.

And then, to make matters worse, another monster appeared. This time falling from the sky was a biped creature clad in a red jacket that obscured the details of its body, making it difficult for Mercy to distinguish what exactly the thing was. She was grateful, at the very least, that the two monsters were hostile to each other, rather than teaming up to attack both Mercy and Mr Pirate.

At the thought of the talking kitty, Mercy looked around suddenly. "Where are you?!" She called out, panic beginning to seep into her voice. "Fenrir, come back!" The mage motioned for its spirit, who was staggering around shakily on its feet, flames still licking around it's muzzle. "Help me find the kitty around here!"

Because at present, ensuring the safety of the adorable talking cat took priority over the two other monsters locked in combat. Upon receiving the slash from the feline newcomer, deep gashes appear along the boar's back, again flames spewing forth like blood.

“Ow,” spoke the twin-tailed yokai. His utterance was anything but authentic, possessed a grave degree of satire and regardless of the face full of flame, he remained atop its back all the same. It reared enough to cast the creature from its back. It landed easily enough, skid to a stop while retaining eye contact. Within his clutch was the ring that was previous sitting near the crest of the horn.
“That’s that, I guess,” he muttered as it gushed more fire - obnoxiously so. “Didn’t you just do that?” Of course, Topax did not say that right away. His mouth was full for a second there as fire funnelled into it. After consuming and swallowing its cauterizing projections, he continued and afterwards, he glanced towards the woman who was looking around for … well, him.
“Tsk.” Amused, but he did not dwell on it. Instead, he opened his mouth, bore fangs that framed a ball of blue that pulsated into being. With a burst, a subtle, sweeping aftershock, the ball raced towards the boar. It wished to collide with it and release its fiery energy in an explosion.

Mercy was still looking around for the little pirate cosplaying feline when a blast of fire drew her attentions back towards the fight. Perhaps the heat was making her delirious because she could've sworn a moment ago that the giant biped had eaten the boar's flames.

"Fenrir! Fenrir? Oh, right." She cast a side glance at the Spirit and her eyes widened, as though noticing for the first time that the wolf was still on fire. "Stop, drop, and roll!" She yelled unhelpfully, to which the Spirit only eyed her incredulously.

Such instructions would not be helpful for Gullinbursti neither, as it was suddenly consumed by a brilliant fiery explosion. She would have attributed the presence of even more fire to belong to the boar, except for the fact that the monster was now running around in circles, squealing like a banshee as it got a taste of its own medicine.

Seizing advantage of the brief lull in combat, Mercy stabbed a finger in the direction of the red jacketed biped and yelled accusingly. "You! Did you eat Mr Pirate?! The short adorable talking kitty around here." Given that it had stolen the strange ring from Gullinbursti, Mercy assumed that it had equal capacity to steal a cute feline as well.

"No!" he called back without a moment's hesitation. His gaze only partially strayed towards her general direction. He wished to keep the majority of his attention on the boar before him. He was gracious for its brief period of respite. Topax, however, was by no means as generous.

"I'm not a fast eater, because I like to savour what I slay." His edgy line was followed by the brandishing of his large, plasma-comprised claws. He proposed it was too quick of a disappearance for someone like him to have eaten him, but that also revealed he was aware of the individual she spoke of. Otherwise, he would have questioned what she was even talking about or ignored her altogether, leaving it to her imagination.

Mercy did not expect the clothed biped to respond. And she was not assured by its response either. "So then, have you seen him?" She demanded haughtily, moving her hands onto her hips.

One thing which she did decide, was that this Gullinbursti was proving to be a massive pain in the ass in her ability to hunt down the location of her newest feline pet. She wouldn't put it past the creature to have eaten Mister Pirate either. The teen squinted at the boar suspiciously, before her vision was briefly obscured by Topax's vicious slash across its face. Its horn was sliced cleaning through, the top half cluttering to the floor. Topax's claws did not stop at the horn, continuing further to slash three deep gashes across the boar's face.

"You!" Mercy hollered, stabbing a finger in the direction of the boar. "If the tall one didn't eat Pirate then, you must have!" Her accusations turned enraged and she beckoned Fenris towards her.

Solemnity had finally taken the reigns as Mercy decided to put an end to this nonsense. "Get that fat pig!"

Her instructions were vague, but the Spirit obliged regardless, the burns having caused its fur to be singed in places and patchy in others, revealing the raw amount of muscle underneath. With its partially scorched fur, the wolf looked more like a rapid mange-ridden dog than a noble Celestial Spirit. Nonetheless, it charged towards Gullinbursti, hell-bent on revenge for the damage it had caused.

With a vicious snarl, Fenris hurled itself onto the backside of the boar (in the opposite direction of Topax) with the intention of sinking its fangs into the creature once more.

He flared a shroud of flames around him. What ferocity was lost returned as the flames licked at the encompassing, sweltering air around him. What words were cast his way rinsed him over without stirring the creature. They were upon deaf ears as he stared down the large creature. It was being wrestled with by the woman's giant wolf as he took the slightest moment of respite.

Just from the ire soaking the being through, it suggested that the time it was taking to fell the beast was unacceptable. It was large, somewhat bulky, but even still, he expected it to fall to the wayside after even one of its attacks was felt. "Stubborn..." he spat to himself in a mutter, volume low and tone soaked with loathing.

He threw something. The motion was quick, snappy, and dismissive. A simple ball of flame was thrown at the beast and a collision would spawn an eruption of concussive force and billowing, short-lived fire as it dispersed feverishly into the air.
