The Little Old Witch [Mission/ Closed]

MISSION NAME: The Little Old Witch [break] CLIENT: Parents of victims [break] CHARACTERS: Romance Solomon Mercy Godfrey [break] MISSION BRIEFING: There was a little old lady with a nasty rumor over her head saying she eats children she abducts in the woods in her strange looking, gingerbread cabin. Turning them into oatmeal with her potions to feast on them and maintain eternal life, and that's obviously not okay! When these rumors turned to reality it was nothing to petition a few mages. We need someone who can go into the woods and take her out but be careful, shes a lot stronger than she looks. She is descended from Saumelsonite Town, so you know she's a nasty piece of work. [nospaces] [attr="class","spellbound-text"]Of course the ruins of most old towns were still plagued with the evils of the world, but none as malicious as humans with bad intent. While there was still some signs of life, deep in the forested area that surprisingly stood strong was a cabin. Not just any cabin though, it was an old home with a heavenly golden glow around it and the aroma of freshly cooked oatmeal clinging to the air. A sickening thought when one realized why they were there. [break][break] The entire structure looked like a modern day gingerbread house, because it was, with the chimney billowing plumes of white smoke. A light hum ringing through the trees that stood around this place coming from the house. Romance had managed to take up the mission and was accompanied by a member of a sister guild to get rid of the old woman who was eating kids in there. [break][break] "Why do things that seem too good to be true always end up that way?" [break][break] Romance whispered to his partner as the approached the cabin. They were still shrouded by the trees, simply staking out the place for to determine the best course of action when the woman opened the door. Romance stepped back a bit to allow the shadows to take him, watching the humming woman mouth some tune and toss out a pair of kids clothes. Joyfully skipped back into her house to continue her meal as if she'd gained new found youth despite her hunched body. [break][break] That was her, in a purple dress covering her chunky body and her white apron stained with bits of oatmeal and other ingredients. Romance cringed at the thought of what she was doing and looked over to January, while they didn't know one another it was always nice to be with someone else for creepy shit like this. It was... comforting. [break][break] "That's her. What's the plan, how should we approach this?"

Mercy shrugged. "Kids are idiots. A giant gingerbread house in the middle of nowhere? Sure, let's go eat it!" Her voice was snide and dripping with sarcasm, making her distaste of those younger than her quite abundantly clear. Honestly, if it weren't for the money reward, she wouldn't have bothered coming here to get rid of the witch.
"Survival of the fittest dude. I believe in Darwinism." At this, she smirked, casting a side glance at her mission partner.
She was in the middle of pondering the structural integrity of gingerbread when their wanted criminal appeared, disposing of some kid's clothes.
Mercy shrugged again. "Let's go in guns blazing. She's an old pruney hag. What could go possibly wrong?"

[nospaces] [attr="class","spellbound-text"]Would it be wrong for him to chuckle at her sarcastic joke? He wasn't sure, so to avoid any sort of weird feelings he would simply chuckle in his head. Despite the seriousness of the situation Mercy did have a good point. Watching the woman go back into her home, his eyes continuing to stalk her through her window he could see she was moving into her kitchen; that's when the mage took note of what his partner was saying. The woman speaking about survival of the fittest and what not and he found her humor to be morbid and a bit dark for a light mage, but he wasn't about to start a debate about her philosophy outside the enemies house. [break][break] "Naivety isn't the same as weakness." [break][break] Romeo expressed while continuing to watch their prey. His brow arched and his eyes looked to the side to meet the visage of Mercy, his mind trying to wrap around the kind of person she was. She wanted to just burst in and take the lady out without trying to formulate any semblance of a plan or anything like that? What had he gotten himself into. [break][break] "I... don't think that's a good idea?" [break][break] His words held an air of confusion at her antics more so than confusion on if it was a good idea or not. True she was older than dirt but she was spry, had magic and she had the home advantage, and Rome didn't want to die before he reached the age of 30. "We're on her turf, who knows what kind of traps she has. Not to mention she seems to have just consumed some children so... what if she too strong for us right now?" [break][break] Mercy would probably catch on to the nervous twang in his voice and reprimand him for it, but he just wanted to make sure everything was going to turn out okay. After all, they were facing an elderly serial killer.

[nospaces] [attr="class","spellbound-text"]Romeo knew he couldn't allow his nerves to get the best of him, and so he would begin formulating a plan to deal with the woman alone. Even if the mission stated she was stronger than she looked, so was he and he couldn't keep counting himself out. Even if it was correct that she held the home field advantage, he was working with the element of surprise would could be just as deadly. Especially when he took her home field advantage away which was really their only option. [break][break] With that, Romance made a quiet dash to the side of the house and leaned against the structure. The ground around him becoming moist and soggy as a pillar of water lifted him to the roof of the house, silent enough to prevent him from getting caught and allowing him to act on phase two of his plan. Moving over to the chimney and climbing the graham cracker structure until he was at the top, peering down into the warm candy aroma'd smoke. [break][break] "Here goes nothing." [break][break] He spoke now, raising a single hand to create a small film of black water over the chimneys port forcing the smoke to back draft into the home. For a minute or two there was silence before he could hear coughing and the sounds of panic as the woman began rummaging wildly. [break][break] Hopefully the young mage would be ready for her because he had taken note of the second part of the mission description. The woman was dangerous and stronger than she looked and so he was sure it would take more than his spear to get rid of her, or at least that's what was running through his mind. No telling with these little old ladies, they always had a few tricks up their sleeves.

[nospaces] [attr="class","spellbound-text"]The young Solomon was simultaneously holding the water bubble over the chimney and moving to the edge of the roof to get a better view of what was going on underneath him. The woman panicking, attempting to grab what few valuables she could and opening the door to run out. Unfortunately for her when she stepped foot out a crescent blade of black water, almost like a guillotine, was slicing the earth before her; missing her by just an inch. [break][break] Well there went the element of surprise. The witch was gasping and closing the door again, and this time everything was silent in the house... she knew she was being attacked now. [break][break] Without any sign or warning, the roof tiles near him were suddenly bursting open with the the witch flying past on a broom stick. Attempting to run him down as she flew away, but he wouldn't be letting her get away so easily. [break][break] "Not so fast Granny!" [break][break] Using a water pillar to launch himself through the air, the momentum carried him fast enough to where he was floating in front of the flying woman before his descent. Before her elderly reflexes could even notice what was going on he was drop kicking her through the sky off of her broom jet, both of them falling to the ground after the assault. The difference being an orb of water that caught him gracefully while his target was almost splattered along the ground. [break][break] Romance watched as the woman stood to her feet from a pile of clothing and bruised meat, growling in a feral manner. Her hands were above her head now and when he thought she was going to surrender she instead summoned two golem's composed of oatmeal, just perfect. Their clumpy bodies moved like puppets toward the man and Romance sighed aloud. [break][break] "For crying out loud, I just washed my hair this morning!"

[nospaces] [attr="class","spellbound-text"]The witch was cackling loudly as her golems made their move toward the water mage. They were larger than him, sure, but that often times meant they were slower and that proved to be the case now. Black water would swirl and condense around his hand, creating the circular head of a spiked mace for him to beat through their mucky bodies. Leaping forward and performing a horizontal swing at the presumed rib cage of the creature, it's creamy beige body seemed to withstand the heavy blow from the man with no reaction, besides the fact that it's entire stomach has been splattered onto the forest floor. [break][break] He gasped at the fact that it was still coming after him, quickly forced to his knees by a heavy downward blow. The beast having used two hands to punch Romance's upper back in an effort to ground him but only prompting him to groan and look up to the creature angrily, the golem attempting the same move again. If not for Romance rolling to the side he likely would of been pummeled to a pulp. [break][break] So these things didn't feel pain or any emotion? He would take note of that and finish them off without remorse, though to be fair he didn't plan on showing any. Now in a crouch he dodged another left jab, going for a counterattack but slipping on wet oatmeal chunks on the ground; his ribs targeted by a kick in mid stumble leaving him clutching his stomach on the ground. [break][break] These damned things were tougher than they looked but he wasn't about to go down that easily. Allowing the mace to grow and encapsulate both clasped hands, Romance would leap up and bring the weapon crashing through the head of the golem in one heavy movement; snapping the creatures cranium from its shoulder. [break][break] With it's head was flying through the air he almost stopped to celebrate but the body was STILL swinging at him. He fell backward to avoid the attack and realized he would have to beat the thing into a pulp to get past it. Fine by him, that kick to the gut had really pissed him off and he wouldn't allow this thing to live after such an assault.

[nospaces] [attr="class","spellbound-text"]Moving to his feet, the liquid man was dodging a downward punch by the golem; sidestepping and formulating a counterattack. His lips suddenly protruded a black liquid that engulfed the body of the golem, like the tentacles of an octopus using his mouth as a cave, keeping it in place. The beast was trapped in it's pose and Romance used his water based weapon to swiftly splatter the creation all over the floor and trees behind them, one down and one to go. [break][break] The water around his hand would begin to rain from his appendage, falling to the dirt below while Romance watched the other golem. Now pointing a finger to the witch who wasn't cackling any more, instead scowling back to the Nemean mage. [break][break] "This fiasco stops now you old bat." [break][break] "You couldn't take me on your best day you snot nosed brat!" [break][break] The second golem moved in now, closing the distance and attempting to swing at Romance only for black waves beginning to amass around his fist again. This time however it was more like a contained cyclone of water that he quickly slammed into the chunky creature, using the force of the onyx whirlpool to completely decimate the breakfast baddie. "Water God's Tidal Force!" [break][break]

[nospaces] [attr="class","spellbound-text"] The old woman's eyes bulged at the display of power from the youth, first shock playing on her expression which transfigured to become anger. She hadn't faced a challenge like this in a while, that was for sure, and she didn't want to start now. Romance took advantage of her shocked state and crafted a sword from sable tinted watered, leaping forward to slash at her only for her figure to morph under him. Becoming a pool of oatmeal that slipped away and reformed behind him. [break][break] So this was the game she wanted to play? Duck and run. Fine by him, he didn't have anywhere better to be, another swing at her resulted in the same morphing to escape putting a bit of distance between herself and the god slayer. [break][break] "Have some cookies, you damned runt!" [break][break] Suddenly there were pools of oatmeal surrounding her hands that she unleashed above her head into a floating mass. The chunky soup then condensed into oatmeal raisin cookies quickly raining down on the man almost like machine gun fire, which prompted Romance to dive out of the way. Standing again to slice through the projectiles with his sword with mostly luck guiding his hand. [break][break] "Slimy old coward!" [break][break] Romance expressed angrily, the oatmeal woman was moving toward him like a soupy wave with her body suddenly reforming to slam a fist into his face. Causing the youth to stumble back, however his quick thinking allowed him to grip her arm and toss her into the side of her house. Hearing her grunt loudly as she peeled off the side of the structure like an old piece of bologna, crawling to her knees to stand slowly. Holding the wall for support while looking over to the god slayer, desperation now in her defeated eyes. [break][break] "You call me a coward? Heh, you weak, pathetic little man. You couldn't take me on your best day." [break][break] "You'll eat those words you monster. No more time for games, you fall here and now!"

[nospaces] [attr="class","spellbound-text"] Without any sort of warning, Romance's head was tilting toward the sky with his mouth open to pull in as much air as he could in one try. His chest puffing up and the humidity in the air shift around him, black droplets of water coming into visibility which wasn't a good sign for the witch. Lashing his head forward to produce an oil black liquid cyclone from his lips that tore through the forest floor and everything in front of him for several meters, trees and abandoned structures obliterated in the massive attack. [break][break] "Water God's Bellow!" [break][break] Romance howled, his body standing strong against the currents that threatened to blow him backward and his hair and clothing whipping violently in the wind produced from the assault. His target had managed to lift her hands to procure a shield to surround her but it was easily caving under the pressure of the attack, hearing her screams as she used every ounce of her power to withstand the shredding tsunami. [break][break] After a few seconds of holding up, her protective dome was shattered and her body flew roughly to the floor where it was dragged for several feet. Only landing in a quivering slump when Romeo closed his mouth to cease the activation of his black water twister, something he'd never unleashed so freely before. [break][break] Coughs could be heard from the witch while he slowly walked toward her, choking on the water he'd blasted her with and struggled to expel it from her lungs while on her hands and knees. Her face red with pressure while the black liquid hit the floor beneath her gaping mouth and leaking eyes, she was effectively his prey now while weakened. Hacking up a lung wouldn't save her even if she managed to get the proper air in time.

[nospaces] [attr="class","spellbound-text"] Romance continued his slow pursuit while his mind reminded him not to let her compose herself and to take her while she was feeling the pressure. His hand still grasping the black sword created from water, he would get close enough to her to critically injure her with the blade. Taking the time to quickly cut her Achilles tendon so that she couldn't run from him, it was a trick he'd learned from other members of the guild who would chase down dangerous game. [break][break] The old bat was clutching her leg now, screeching angrily with a voice that pierced the air and echoed throughout the night. Slamming her hand to the ground she started to chant and sway her arms quickly with a tsunami wave of oatmeal beginning to float into the air. "No!" Romeo hollered in return, using the sword to hack off her hand; sending her head reeling back in pain which he couldn't bare to watch for long. [break][break] Romance wasn't a fan of killing but when it came to sick, twisted people like her he wasn't as affected. The things she'd done made her beyond human and if he could kill cute beasts he could damn sure kill a homicidal, cannibalistic, oatmeal witch. [break][break] "Spare me boy, and i'll share the recipe of eternal oatmeal with you!" [break][break] Her wretched voice begged to which the blonde scoffed, bringing the blade down into her still intact hand. Pinning it to the ground and bringing more of her screams to light. "Like you spared those children? No deal." Driving the blade deeper now he would stand above her and catch his breath a bit, finally ready to end the mission.

[nospaces] [attr="class","spellbound-text"] Staring down at the woman in question, a bloody mess of old rags and deep breathing to compliment the stench of oatmeal and sadness that stained her. He could see that in her past she might have been a happy, spry woman who would use her magics to help others in poverty but she grew greedy. Something inside of her wanted more power, and eternal youth, and what better way to get that than by evoking the darkest magics. It was sad to think about how people could become corrupted by power and how no one was immune to such happenings, not even a god slayer. [break][break] "You have committed terrible crimes against the future generations of the world, and have done so for selfish and disgusting reasons. You deserve everything that has come to you today, including this..." [break][break] A spear formed in the air over his palm, it's composition a mixture of the moisture in the atmosphere and the black waters he commanded. His eyes focused on the woman in question who was on the brink of death and within a second of it's creation the spear found itself driven into the center of the old woman's face. Snuffing whatever life force she had once out, and ending the task... his jewel reward coming with the woman's corpse melting into a puddle of lifeless oats. His weapons shifting back into water that the soil beneath them sapped up and his body turning to walk back to his guild hall.
