“Ah,” Jinn replied knowingly. It sounded like a disgusting meat. There was no point in trying to cook something like that, so he dismissed the thought all together. There was nothing sad about it. Dismissing thoughts and lying about was one of his favourite past-times.
And then the monster disappeared. Jinn watched it as it did. He expression was what it always was – but then again, the monster was content with fighting the both of them. It did so, most definitely, in many timelines. Jinn's eye already seized the whole of a fight between them. To him, he already fought it before. Perhaps that was why his expression was so weary all of the time.
“This thing is too fast for me... but I guess I'm pretty tough,” he reassured. “Well, all things considered.” He sat there with his paws in front of his body.
“I'm going to just wait...” he said as a yawn came over him.

Mercy's attack hit the scorpion, eliciting a furious and anguished screech. It emerged from the sand once more, this time directing an attack towards Mercy in vengeance. Its stinger swung forward to impale the girl in the heart.
Given Jinn's lack of action, the cat was ignored as a non-threat.

"Are you kidding me?" Mercy cried in exasperation and in response to Jinn's idle disregard for the whole situation. "Jiiiiiiiinn…" Her voice adopted a whine as she stared at the yawning feline.
Fortunately for the teen, her armour was enough to negate the attack from the stringer that would otherwise have impaled her. Instead, she only stumbled back several steps before the uneven terrain of the sand caused her to fall backwards onto her bum.
Her whine adopted a more insistent tone. "Jinn! Are you listening? A little help over here!"
Just to demonstrate that she was the one currently doing all the hard work, she'd make a show of firing a glob of bubbling poison into the scorpion's giant maul. If it found its target, the poison would begin to eat at the monster from the inside.

It was a curious ordeal; amusing if not for the grating whining. Feeling an obligation to offer an explanation, he did, but not without an introductory sigh.
“What do you want from me? I can't see it,” he explained. However she was able to find her mark, he did not know. It was due to that attack striking true did the creature re-emerge. It did so with the same vehemence as before, attacking all the while, purposed with revenge. Understandable.
“There you are,” he said at he pointed a paw skyward. A ball of flame expanded into view abruptly, trumping his own form in size. “Would appreciate if you didn't kill her. I'd be in so much shit...”
He flung the roaring orb of flame, forgoing trickery and siphoning and simply assaulting it with as much fire as he could muster.

The scorpion swallowed Mercy's glob of poison and the effects were immediate. Limbs thrashing about, it began screeching in pain as it felt its insides being corroded and dissolved away. It's thrashing only increased in ferocity as it was consumed by flame until it resembled little more than a flailing ball of fire.
As though having finally discovered that the two Godfrey posed more threat than previously anticipated, the scorpion would begin running around blindly in circles around the huldras as though to try to avoid any further attacks.

At last, things seemed to be going Mercy's way. Jinn was finally taking the fight seriously – or at least Mercy hoped so. She glared daggers at his final comment. "What's that supposed to mean?" She cried indignantly.
But she couldn't dwell on her brother's annoying-ness for too long. Not when there was flaming giant critter running around them. Her glare turned into a frown. This creature wasn't very smart. Better end its pitiful life sooner than later.
Given it's perpetual scurrying, it was difficult to aim accurately and so Mercy crossed her fingers and randomly flung another poisonous projectile at the monster.

"It's been enough time."
Jinn said something, but it did not seem to be in response to his sister. It was obvious what he referred to as a cloud of smoke burst from his feline physique. Again, he stood there as a human, albeit his face retained its usual apathy.
His eyes vaguely followed the frantic beast. It was moving strangely, but Jinn did not actually attempt to figure out what it was doing. He decided to fall forward lazily before catching himself with a foot that stomped into the waiting sands below. Some grains clung to the air as faint, subtle clouds of semi-transparent beige and others turned to glass as green flame raced forward, stopping directly in the beast's path.
A piller of fire rocketed upwards just as it reached the portion of ground Jinn soaked with his caustic magic.

Mercy's poisonous projectile hit. Corrosive acid coated the scorpion's exoskeleton. Its body cooked as a geyser of fire interrupted its scampering. But the scorpion was resilient if anything.
It screamed in otherworldly tongues and raised its pincers towards the sky as though praising some sort of sun god. In such a pose, its body consumed by flame and dripping with poison, the beast look positively alien. Then, it's charred exoskeleton cracked open. However, underneath was not soft tissue but rather steel plates.
As it shed its old exoskeleton, the scorpion pulsated with glowing magical energies.

"Why won't it die?!" Mercy cried, stamping her foot angrily onto the sand. Her fists clenched as she glared at Jinn, as though he was personally responsible for not slaying the creature sooner. True, he had finally decided to take it seriously, after returning to his human form. But Mercy wanted to blame her problems on someone. And she certainly was not going to account for her own responsibilities.
At this point, she lost interest in trying to be creative with her attacks, and continued to fire yet another poison ball at the creature.
