MISSION NAME: a coat, a handbag
CLIENT: madame shimiji
CHARACTERS: Orion Prima Kasumi Ito
MISSION BRIEFING: madame shimiji, the wife of a rich merchant, is craving for a coat and a handbag made of giant polar bear fur. she will not want any other animal. giant polar bears are naturally found in the stalagmite wastes. two mages are contracted to find five, kill the animals, and skin them for their furs.
Orion grunted as he remembered the image of the client for this mission. Madame Shimiji was a veryimposing woman who loved cats. Besides her cat, Tora, she loved lavish items as well. This led to his current mission of looking for giant polar bears. The problem was, the last time he had found giant polar bears, he had been the cause of an entire pack's death.
"If only," he man sighed, standing at the meeting place just outside of the village. He had another wizard coming to help him with this mission. Five giant polar bears are needed for the coat and the handbag. The number surprised him, but apparently the artisans contracted to work on the fur is afraid of mistakes. Extras, they said. Unneeded casualty, Orion replied.
But, he needed this work. He had a tab to pay after all.

Monetary concern was the reason why Kasumi agreed to this in first place. With her supply running low, she had taken cases that she probably would never consider under regular circumstances. If the polar bear had attacked a small settlement nearby she would have been more than happy to do her job with it but this?
Donning a wool suit to withstand the icy weather, Kasumi began to make her way to the rendezvous point. Noticing that recognizable burly big body she would make her way to his side though, she had refuse to speak until they were next to each other. It was her indirect manner to find out if the man was preoccupied with the Almighty spirit they had encountered last time.
"Are we trying to make a coat for a half-giant?"she paused, waiting to check if Orion had manage to sense her through all this weather. With his ability, it should be more than easy for him but an occupied mind can dull one's senses massively.
"I can't see why they would need all five bears just to make a a regular coat and handbag."

"Fuck!" Orion gasped, his body jerking slightly at the voice that came from nowhere, "Motherfuck, don't do that..." The man had been lost in his own thoughts, curled up within the confines of his own fur-lined jacket. It was cold...too cold...and a blizzard seemed to be forming in the horizon. Overall, it was going to be a horrid time.
"And to answer your question, I think the Madame wanted more than one set? Or maybe the artisan she had hired is really just a buffoon," It really didn't matter to Orion. He was here to make some money. Quick money.
"You ready?" Better get this over with.

Orion had nearly leapt into the air after hearing her voice causing Kasumi to chuckle at the reaction. While he appeared to be occupied with some thought, it didn't look like he was brooding or anything. She gave a shrug and muttered sorry in response before digging her gloved hands deeper into her pockets. One could use a pocket warmer at a time like this. Or perhaps a thicker suit that would trap heat better than the wool one she wore.
"Sounds good enough for me. Do you want to lead the way? I would but I'm afraid I'm rather new to this area myself."
Kasumi's eyes would scan the are around them. With blizzard as heavy as this, she wondered just how much they would have to travel to catch the polar bear in the area. She was no hunter so she had absolutely no idea on where or even how to start tracking them.

"Sure, been here a couple times..." Orion remembered the two missions he had done in this vast wasteland. The second one conjured up bad memories, death and destruction was the only image left in his mind of that moment. Oh, and his father. His father had died during that mission, how could he forget that.
He had started moving north, where the giant polar bears were last seen by the village hunters. The first time he was here, he had also gone north. He had-
"Ah shit..." Orion cursed, still keeping a light pace, he glanced back at Kasumi before saying, "There's something I need to tell you about the giant polar bears. Something...uhh...I did before..." He wasn't sure whether his previous actions would have consequences in this mission, but he had to tell his partner. He at least owed it to her.

Hearing that the man had been to this place before put her heart at ease. There was no landmark for her to navigate in this harsh tundra, safe for maybe the stars above them but she had never really learn to put those in use. Fortunately Orion appeared to know where they should be going and she was more than happy to follow her lead.
Orion's sudden cursed cause Kasumi's eyes to snapped back on him, wondering if Orion had forgotten to fetch something. The words that followed however made her blink in response...just what did he do back then that made him hesitate? Increasing her pace so that she matched his stride before turning her head towards him.
"What's wrong? Did you steal a baby polar bear from her mother?"she guessed. Not that she was being serious with it, although she had seen some exotic animals kept by the those who have the money to burn.

If only it were that simple. Stealing a polar bear cub was something that was cruel, and Orion would never be privy to that kind of mission. The topic of his story was much more complicated, however. It involved the possibility that the mission might take longer than expected, especially if the last time he was here rpoved to be true this time around as well.
"Well, you see..." Orion paused, although still keeping the pace. They had slowly crested up a hill now, and the blizzard seemed to start forming its edge here. Wind blew and snow fell. Regular time at the Stalagmite Wastes.
"I kind of was responsible for killing a whole pack of these giant polar bears. Which means," Orion coughed, "uh, which means that the population is a bit lower right now." The blizzard picked up, bur Orion knew that the young woman would manage through the weather. She was made of tougher stuff, after all. "So, yeah...you alright with that?"

Kasumi grabbed the bridge of her nose and rubbed them slightly as she exhale...a puff of white vapor forming in front of her face. Of course she knew that one should never expected a mission to go perfectly but this also means that they would be spending who knows how many hours in this place trying to find those giant furballs.
"Tell me that it was at least for self defense..."
Kasumi reached out for a bottle of alcohol inside the suit. She had not meant to use it unless it's for emergency and the cold was getting too much for them both. Kasumi would make sure he looked at the bottle...though she pulled it away if he reached out for it and stashed it back into the suit.
"I'm limiting our search until our bottle is over. I'm not going to end up as a frozen popsicles just for the sake of someone's fashion statement."

Orion chuckled nervously, huddled into his coat, "Uhh yeah, for self-defense..." he trailed off. His actions were definitely for self-defense. Looking back, Orion could not think of any other way to have kept himself alive from that attack. "They kind of fell over a mountain, if you wanted to know." He chuckled at that thought. Polar bears tumbling off a cliff...
Alcohol, however, was offered, but immediately kept away from him. "So, a sip?" Orion stared at Kasumi with his best puppy-dog eyes.
But then, Orion spotted something in the distance. He pointed towards it, and whispered, "Can I get a sip before we start fighting that...thing..." From the distance, Orion could definitely tell it was a polar bear.

That nervous chuckle and the trailing off words made her eyebrow twitched. Even worst their death was moreso that they fell down the mountain. It would have been fine if it was somewhere they can reach at least then they can just grab the corpse and claim the mission was officially over.
"I think I just got a migraine..."Kasumi sighed as she rubbed the bridge of her nose. It was like this almost every time she went on a trip with Orion, having to play the straightwoman on his adventures. When Orion asked for a sip of the alcohol, Kasumi shook her head at first. She really wanted to save the drink until she was sure they really needed it. At least until Orion pointed towards the polar bear in the distance.
"....just a sip and no more."Kasumi finally relented. At the very least she woult let Orion handled the fighting this time.

Orion smiled, and took a sip from the liquor brought by the girl. She was a blessing, a true blessing that Orion did not deserve. She brought liquor for god's sake? Only someone like himself would do that, and even then, he didn't bring any for this mission.
"Hey, they were quite vicious! They tried to eat me!" Orion protested, after giving the bottle back to Kasumi. He had been in danger at that point, and he really tried his best not to fight the polar bears. In the end, they fell to their deaths. It really was not his fault. Much.
But now, the polar bear was getting close. It seemed alone, but they never were truly alone. "Must be a scout of the pack. Hit it on the head, their skulls are easy to crack." Orion's orders were strict, but with merit. "I'll get the next one if you get this one! There should be more just after this first one."

"You're a God Slayer! What does a couple of polar bears have on you??"Kasumi snapped back, her voice raised slightly though she still maintain a hushed tone. Before she could scold him any further, Orion pointed out that the bear was approaching them closely. He even gave her some tips on how to take down the creatures.
"I'll hold you to that..."
Exhaling, Kasumi would began to approach the polar bear. The female mage half wished that she had worn a white suit instead...not only would it blend with the snow but it would also be a good insulator for heat. She didn't know how strong the bear's sense of smell was...nor was she keen to find out. With a burst of speed she would dashed towards the bear in question, It was a good thing bears usually kept their head to the ground...at full height, she highly doubted she could reach the bears head. Leaping high up into the air, the girl lifted her leg in the form of an axe kick... before crushing it down so hard that there was a small crater where his head was smashed into the ground, the snow barely cushioned the blow for the polar bear's head.

"I was a newly minted mage at that point," Orion stuck his tongue out at Kasumi, before watching her charge at the first polar bear. A smash, and later a crater, the strength of the woman was peerless, and definitely not one to scoff at. If anything, Orion now was not sure whether he'd win a spar against her anymore. She had definitely improved since the last time.
At the horizon, two more polar bears poked their heads as they heard the sound. It seems the pack was slowly trying to get away from the blizzard. Orion almost felt sorry for them having been the ones who crossed their paths. But at least they didn't need to hunt them down. With a charge of lightning, Orion leaped up and sent two bolts towards the unsuspecting polar bears. Both were hit, and died almost instantly.
"Two down, two more incoming, Kas!" Orion shouted, as two more polar bears were heading their way, side-by-side, and charging. It seems their little activity had been discovered.

Having landed a hammer like blow on the bear's skull, Kasumi would leap backward onto the snow. She waited for a few seconds to see if the bear would stir from the blow but once that was proven not to be the case, she would cast her gaze towards where the roaring thunder came from.
It looked like Orion had taken care of two more bears at the same time, though she cannot really say she approved the method he used to kill them. Afterall, the reason why they had to take care of these bears were for the beautiful snow white fur that they possessed. Before she could address such concern however, two more bears charged straight towards her side by side their arrival announced by Orion's warning.
"I'm onto it!"she said as she rushed to meet them as well. As they were much bigger than her, she would flatten herself to the snow and slide herself under one before kicking it's belly so as to used the strength and momentum of the charging bear and sent them crashing onto the nearby snow. The other bear would skid around before it charged right at her, growling in anger. However the noise soon stopped as her fist rocket upward to shatter the bear jaw and sending it somersaulting in the air before crashing in a heap. Taking a moment to catch her breathe she would check if Orion decided to take care of the bear she threw away. If not, she would brace herself to meet the it's charge.

Orion saw the attack, and quickly went to help out Kasumi. One of the bears was sent his way, and he grinned. It had been awhile since he had used his physical strength for anything. Most of the time, his battles were fought with pure magic. This time, maybe he'd give his katana a whirl. The blade had been hungering to be used for awhile now.
"Let's go!" Orion jumped, bringing the katana over his head. The polar bear reared it head, roaring at the man who had dared attack him. The god slayer grinned, his face showing the signs of a man who has seen and experienced too many battles.
With a clean cut, the fourth polar bear was taken down. Orion was not cruel, his attack would have felled the beast the moment it had hit. Noble creatures, yet very aggressive, Orion held some form of respect for them
"One more, Kas!" One more polar bear. It roared as it saw its pack mates get slaughtered. Seeing red, the last of the small pack of polar bears charged at both Kasumi and Orion.
