At Anzu's comment, Rex quieted down and watched the shattered glass, smiling as it was destroyed completely, "Bettering ourselves, not like it's hard, not if you don't want to die later."
We're curious, are we not?
Yes, of course they were, but he wasn't dumb enough as to ask someone to detail their own circumstances...not directly, anyhow. "Huh, you talk like you've seen other Guilds...were there others? I don't really know, don't remember anything other than Odin's Spear.

"Hm?" Ret began with an inquisitive thrum. "Oh! I heard there were a few, yes." He pushed his glasses back in place, fished about in his pockets, and looked back in the direction of the guild. "Besides this one. There were tons back before the current state of things. They did jobs for magicless folk - for pay of course. That was a while ago."
"The biggest difference is a guild nowadays is it being a means of survival first and foremost. Makes sense, too, since those monsters out there as just about done finishing things up. Looks like without guilds forming, these settlements would've just been gobbled up."
He took a large bite of air to pantomime the concept. Then, he started a slow pace away and back towards the guild. "You comin' too?" |

Very long time...I don't remember, but I am old enough to be in those times. Maybe you too.
Very, very weird. He didn't like lingering on it, it felt too strange to try and consider a time he might and might not have been present for. "Yeah, yeah, I'm coming." He felt glad that he didn't need to think about it here, and trotted after Reticulum.

“Yeap. Imagine it would sound pretty weird, yeah. Not so much for me since pretty much the last time I was down here, it was during those times, y' know?” The final portion of that sentence was certainly rhetorical. Rex likely was not able to related – at least, not that part of him. It was more a matter of speech than anything.
“Great! I'll check and see what needs to be done. It looks like the guild has some big plans underway.” He paused for but a moment, then whilst walking, allowed a glance to fall Rex's way over-top a shoulder. “Did you see all those new members rolling in? This is something big!”
As he strolled, he likely lead the conversation about just that – how big the guild was getting in such a short time. He did not seem overly concerned with how responsive Rex was. For the remaining time until they arrived, it was just him having a conversation more with himself than anybody else.
