Cheshire. What an appropriate name for a half-human half-feline who possesses an affinity with the shadows - not like her parents foretold the manifestation of her powers when they named her, but a happy coincidence. And just like her name, she was more or less a happy coincidence herself.[break][break]
Her mother - a half feline, and her father - a full-fledged human magician, weren't ready to have kids when she came along. Only years after would they actually start trying again, once they have their finances covered, so while she spent a majority of her life dealing with new parents who had no idea what they were doing, she would in turn, take the reigns as the caretaker of the family once she's reached a legal age, as her father suffered a devastating injury to his legs that prevented him from journeying and taking on missions ever again.[break][break]
Then came the moment where she joined Cait Shelter out of necessity. For the first little while, it made getting the odd job here and there an easier task, and she continued. And continued. And continued.[break][break]
For the amount of time she spent in the guild, Chesh certainly made little to no progress at all regarding her magic. Maybe it was due to her aloof nature and weird shadow-related powers that made her seem creepy and gloomy, so unlike most of the other members of her guild, she had no mentors, no figures of inspiration, no one to look up to. Not even her father filled that void, because of the depression he sunk into after being crippled.[break][break]
It was then that a mysterious figure started approaching her, citing hidden talents that were being wasted if she remained where she was. A better future for both her and her family, for her three younger siblings. An offer from what many saw as the dark side of the force. A proposal that should she accept, would immediately brand her a traitor to her people as well as her family. But none of them knew the truth, none of them understood what it felt to live a stagnant life, waking up and repeating the same process over and over, just to shovel up all her earnings to her family who kept asking for more and more.[break][break]
I'm doing it for them, she thought. Does it make me a bad person if I'm just doing all I can to provide for my family?[break][break]
In comes Odin's Sphere, and the revelation of the woman who hounded over her, who coerced her to finally give in and join their cause. It was a drastic, yet necessary change that not only benefitted her family, but it'd also trigger the beginnings of a journey. A journey of soul searching and self-discovery. A promise of freedom. Liberation from the shackles of everyday life, all with the means of being able to provide, and thrive.[break][break]
Will she be able to shape her future, or was her future already pre-determined the day she accepted this proposal? Only time will tell.
