the sound of metal collision echoed from outside of the guild. the sound grew bigger, louder, and closer. once there one could not just hear, but visually see what looked to have been a fight occurring. a battle between vasili and another member of southern wolves.
the challenger, panting, looked to be almost near out of stamina. whereas vasili, for the time being, was fine. they'd only just gotten started and so many were tired. what the small group had been doing was paying vasili for his services to assist in their training. vasili did it for the money, not out of the kindness of his heart. but many seem to let that go over their heads.
he did not pursue this talk any further. "way to keep the party going. you all still fight like a girl, you can take your breaks." as they all went their separate ways. vasili cheekily grinned at the donations received. placing the wad of jewels into his pocket. he'd turn to face the newcomer, tossing his dual bladed kusari's to the side. he'd fold his arms, and said, "well, well, well, care to join us newcomer? the entry's gonna cost ya." vasili slyly grinned.
note: making an opening, excuse the entrance post. it's very weak because i'm so tired and haven't slept yet. fell asleep in the middle of typing this, tbh.

Orion was visiting Dacite for its alcohol. He had been slowly going around Alakitasia, visiting each town still standing after the Calamity, and trying out their home-brewed beer. The taverns had been very hospitable, especially since Orion had been generous when it comes to purchasing their drink. Sadly, Orion had not been able to find a town that had the beer of his choice. Rhyolite was great and all, but the world was a big place, and he needed the best beer money can buy. Shale Town came close, but just not quite.
Wandering around, he found himself swept up by a small crowd watching a spar. He heard the mention of Southern Wolves, and knew immediately it was a guild. The name was familiar enough, but he had only met one of their members. Fighting meant betting though, and Orion was not one to pass up the opportunity for quick money.
"Ah shit, too late," the fight had ended, and it seems the bystanders were slowly dispersing. He was about to leave as well, but heard someone call out to him. He turned, looked at the man, and shrugged, "My money is usually reserved for booze and cancer sticks." He was about to leave, but turned back once more, curiosity, "Did you win?"

win? a curious look manifested unto his face. "there wasn't much competition." this was just a time killer. plus, it was just a spar if anything. these guys did pay for it, but the newcomer didn't need to know that last bit; although, he might've already considering he just pocketed a hefty stash and had a bump on the side of right pocket.
"anyway, i wouldn't call it winnin', fighting against lower skilled people isn't something worth gloating about." but if it earned you money, then that was all he needed. just thinking about could foster a mischievous grin. "it's important to know how to fight though, so i'm glad i could teach them." turning his back on the newcomer as he made way to grab his weapon. he'd look back once having picked them up.
"relying on magic in a fight is for chumps. it's the reason why we live in a ruined world, magic brings nothing but trouble." prove him wrong. had it not been for magic, perhaps they'd still have a world to live within. vasili's right palm would touch a golden key that hung from his hip. thinking about how much of a nuisance magic was just brought nothing but annoyance to him.

"Winning is winning," Orion shrugged. So the man was teaching, and not in a spar as he had first thought. A friendly competition never hurt anybody, and mages needed to keep themselves sharp, especially with their chosen profession. Danger lurked everywhere, and a dull blade will eventually break. "Training them, hey? They pay you then?" He pointed to the wad of money that the man had just pocketed.
Good business. Orion thought of doing it himself when he got back to Rhyolite. The prospect of training might interest some of his peers, and maybe they'd even pay him for some lessons. He was, after all, a lightning god slayer, and that sort-of Lost Magic carried a weight among mages.
"Chumps are people who don't use everything they can to their advantage," it was true for Orion, that winning is important, especially in a life-or-death situation. "Magic is there to be used, so why not use it. It's a tool, after all." He looked at the man, and cradled the hilt of his katana, "A spar then? Do you want to spar?"

"mine!" vasili hissed in retort of the male's pointing. pulling his leg back and, attempting, to hide his gathered fee. he continued on to speak toward what vasili despised. "oooh, well, if the shoe fits." he'd swing the left kusarigama by its chain, leaving the right to hang over his neck.
"if you want to place your trust in the very thing that's got us where we are today, be my guest." he could careless of the stranger's opinion. he'd no intention of changing his own, from where he stood the stranger himself could give two cents about vasili's own thoughts of the matter. the guy looked like a brute after all. magic was troublesome in the hands of brutes.
"they say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, y'know?" he'd cease his swinging. holding the left kusari by the lower hilt. "but you're no stranger to combat." vasili, then, flung the kusarigama toward the stranger within a disc-like fashion. the weaponry spun rapidly within a linear format. had he chosen to deflect the weaponry, vasili would tug it back and do the same with the right kusarigama. though, had he chosen to dodge instead of deflect, vasili would tug the left kusaraigama back only to do the same with the right just as he did with the left the first go round.
"you could say this one's on the house, free of charge!" vasili grinned.
note: let me know if this is okay/clarification is needed. also, don't know if we're freeforming or dnding, just hmu in the dm's if you have a question. i'm a rusty boy.
