Refusing to get distracted, she tried to staunch the pride that swelled within her chest upon Anniken's exclamation of approval.
Mercy could not help but marvel at the cavalier approach to the Valkyrie's charge. Not that she would have expected anything less from the Godfather.
Heart still relentlessly hammering against her heart, the teenager unconsciously took several steps backward in a vain attempt to keep the physical distance between them.
"Don't underestimate me, sis! I am goin' to beat ya!" She shouted with conviction, although the intensity was marred as Mercy's crimson eyes darted from side to side in indecisiveness. The same eyes widened upon recognition of Anniken's magic activation. Although she possessed little clue on what was to happen, there was enough understanding to realise that something bad was going to happen.
Pivoting her toes on the dirt, she reflexively dived to her left, expecting a second Calamity to happen where she previously stood. Big sis was a brutal teacher, after all.
Instincts proved to save her from a ruthless flurry of blades as Fortune and Fate met with nothing but air. Instead, the only damage Mercy received were elbow grazes from pebbles as she landed upon the dirt, her hair flying in all directions.
"Again!" Capitalising on her miracle of an evasion, the teenager motioned towards the Valkyrie, who by now had swung its steed around to face Anniken. Gripping its spear in a steel gauntlet, the Spirit raised its weapon up and hurled it towards the Godfather.

For a tense moment, the younger huldra stared at her sister with bemusement, misinterpreting 'sunshine' to be her nickname, and subsequently wondering why in the name of Odin did Anniken refer to Mercy's ass as 'sweet' and 'sexy'.
Her canine ears twitched. She had probably misheard. Besides, with the approach of the elder Godfrey, Mercy's heart was beginning to race with excitement, all previous trepidation lost in the presence of the Guild Master. Be cool, be cool. Was her internal mantra. Don't show Anniken how much of a dork you are.
"Yeah!" She cried, resisting the urge to do a fist pump. "I'm goin' to beat you with my – uh - muscles!" Cringe. Choosing to ignore her awkward choice of words, Mercy isolated her Gate of the Valkyrie Key and stabbed it into the air.
"Open the Gate of the Valkyrie! Sigrdrífa!" Out of the white magic seal that manifested, a warrior woman galloped horseback out and towards Anniken, closing the ten foot gap between them within seconds.
"Attack!" Mercy cried, somewhat redundantly, as the mounted Valkyrie angled its spear like a lance towards the heart of A.J. Godfrey .

Asgard may have looked like a military base to strangers, but to Mercy, it was a home. A home where she occasionally fought until she fainted.
Behind the ostentatious structure was a yard, or rather, a thin façade of one. Worn patches of dirt were sparsely scattered across the dry brown grass, adorned by the stubbornest of weeds and dandelions. Miniature craters and grassy scars also decorated the ground, evidence from rogue magical attacks gone astray.
Mercy stood in the centre of the yard, nervously fidgeting with a ring of Silver Keys.
