There wasn't an apt way to describe how much it hurt to have most of your orifices begin to spit blood. But that's what happened in Jax' case. In one moment, he was being deterred by the scream in which affected his senses and the next, something was churning at his very core and turning him inside out.
Just like the rest of the battlefield, his sounds and groans of pain were only exacerbated by his vision filling with blood, his attempts at wiping away what had been clawing at him - while he hadn't been targeted by various bugs that others had he instead had to contend with his own issues, and his noises were untempered - his hand weakly rose again, stunned in the problematic aftermath of whatever attack the boss had summoned, and a more frail piece of ice would be cast again into his hand, and he would throw it once more to try and pierce through the body of the monster from afar.
It hurt, it really hurt. He didn't even care if it had done anything, for all he could've known he fired at an allied member, but he was taking all the mental fortitude not to bring out intense screams from the pain in his mind, like a rattling whiteboard scratching and breaking against a record - and for now he would be put to his ass and laid down, not quite clawing, not quite living.
Summary:
Hurts a lot, threw another ice spear. Doesn't know which way it went. Hopes it wasn't at someone else.

In the time that he had gotten to the battlefield and wanted to start fighting, it had turned all very sour for him in the meantime.
Jax heard the screams of the terrible monster, and for once something did actually grip at his core, something that made his teeth chatter and his blood boil: for someone as arrogant and surefire as himself he didn't feel suddenly assured in himself. The fact that it was still breathing and taking hits from everyone and everything all at once was not a warming help.
Jax would raise a hand for ice for manifest in it, he didn't feel all too steady though as a bead of sweat had already begun to roll down his temple - and then shot it off, through a cloud of bugs and hopefully into the thing itself. Luckily for himself, Jax was at the back line and not in a position to be fighting up close, which made him more suitable to not dying (so he'd supposed). He had a vague idea of some of the people around him but they were all united by the cohesive prospect of taking this thing down... and he wouldn't be as scared if it was dead, so it would be beneficial to him to continue pelting it. So he would.

People had come from afar when they heard about the earthquakes: news travelled fast. This was not a natural thing, how it made everything quiver further into the dark, and he didn't shy away from it. Jax was going to make sure he was a part of it, this sort of thing had happened before; calamities followed by calamities.
That meant something was coming, something that people paid good money for: and so they would, forcing an alliance out of certain people and enemies of others. For now, Jax was awaiting further orders, hiding at the back from where people were gathering - he was useless in open and close combat! He didn't want to aggravate something and draw its aggro where he'd be slain there and then.
So that was it, until they would actually move out to put an end to this nonsense, he'd stay put, waiting, listening - drinking as well, a drink in his hand whilst he thought of his next moves. Perhaps flirt with someone? He was loud and obnoxious through the crowd as always, but he was still also decent enough to get the job done, he would just hope that it would be enough of them to take out the monster.

Unlike Orion who had methodologically chosen his route - Jax was erring on the side of wandering. Such things wouldn't usually be afforded to those from a guild but he wasn't a part of any guild. He was with the Southern Wolves, and nobody seemed to care what they did. Well, except for the people they tended to cross for the sake of money.
Jax looked back at the man - studying him momentarily before shrugging. "I'm not buying whatever you're selling~" he was trying to be light hearted about his lack of desire to answer the question directly - waving him away as he continued walking. He thought too little of the man and too much of himself to consider it a threat.
"Oh. Do you know anything fun to do in Riolite? Sorry, Rhyolite?" He would call back to the man, wondering if he had some thought as to what could be entertaining.

"Obviously." Jax replied loudly, for purely the distance between them. He was Jax, there was no reason that he wouldn't be everybody's knight in shining armour.
Honestly? Jax hadn't seen one of them up close either. But stories were stories and people liked to exaggerate the ir appearance, he would come closer with the clear intent of inspecting the corpse he had... recreated? He didn't know how that joke went.
He would drop from his position and into the intersection, his cloak flapping away until its weight dropped back to where it rested - revealing the leather clad man. "Zombie, and no. Smells as bad as it looks, eh, kitties?" Jax would grin. His bout of arrogance would quickly be stifled on a measure of fog coming: one that Jax did not at all trust, it was too thick, and too quickly returned.
Not only that, he too had working ears and would hear it, the unfortunate part about the rubble was that it all tended to echo - not providing an accurate idea about where things where, only his eyesight would help here: and even then, it was diminished by the fog. Jax would turn, only to see another one on his immediate tail (or lack thereof). His tall form would have hidden the zombie from the other two's view, only for him to rush to his own defence, as he always had.
He rose his arm in quick anticipation to try and block the zombie, and it would sink its teeth into his arm. Jax would yelp, even though he was a Ice Slayer, he still had not seen the bloodshed combat that others had had: he was a long distance mage without a doubt, punching someone in the face was not his forte. "I don't wanna fuckin turn into one of you pieces of shit!" Jax would respond with a fury, his opposite arm having summoned another ice shard- rather than attempting to propel it like he would normally, would drop and drop it down on the Zombie's head, but it was a harsh situation and nobody could tell what would happen.

He hadn't been here long and hadn't intended on staying very long either. Jax had also heard the crying child and yet had been much less inclined to help out than his new partner would be, but he had heard it. Instead of the woman's intention to help, Jax had only come out to see what was going on - the battered background they found themselves in made it easy for him to hold a higher position. But he would need to get closer as well.
As he got closer, he had too seen it too many times. He didn't know how his ears had been deceiving him, but either the girl was a zombie or she had some serious disease, neither of which he wanted to fuck with. He was going to leave as well until he saw someone else, someone who was actually getting closer- closer. Jax would turn his body towards the woman, watching her intently - like some sort of drama was unfolding before him. But it was unfortunately the prior of the two issues and it was a zombie, which Jax felt a little bit for. A child had no chance in this world nowadays. But Jax thought the woman would have more of her wits about her. (as if he'd clearly guessed himself...)
"Stupid bitch." Jax would mutter to himself as his open hand would clench on itself: becoming claw like as the air around him began to stiffen and coalesce into a shard, and as quick as he could muster something big enough, he would throw it at the zombie and attempt to hit it in the heart, if it had one. He wouldn't have minded all too much if it hit her too, but it was more aimed at the child than anything.

Jax didn't really like the warmth. Then again, he didn't like anywhere aside from the Stalagmite Wastes where it was cold, nonetheless adventure laid in the depths of view out his reach, it was only befitting of him to find it. The forests were large and abundant and curved to the landscape with no end in sight, and it was in his own vested interest that he found himself something to do.
It was also the land where those of the Cait Shelter guild attended. He liked them. Well, perhaps not the guild, but them. Southern Wolves was where it was at with the free spirited folk. He was actually around the area because he was looking for work and to experiment with his magic in a new area that wasn't already encased in ice. Unsurprisingly, it was harder to manifest ice where water wasn't always readily apparent. Not that would be an issue when his magic became much stronger, for now he felt like a feeble peasant.
With his clawed hand, he was feeling the magic revolve around his body as he thought of manifesting one of his ice shards, but decided against it. Everything had a cost after all. "I wonder what I'm going to do today." He mused to himself.

Hi there, I'm King, or Akira depending on if you role play Naruto or not. I started roleplaying in roughly 2007, and it's almost exclusively been on Naruto websites, but I've also done A:TLA and on the occasion a MMO/Isekai based RP. I don't oft go outside of it so this is a new experience for me as Fairy Tail indeed!  jax noctis Friendships It's not impossible to be a friend of Jax'. Just... it's not easy, either. It's easy to be an accompaniment in his life by being in the Southern Wolves because it likely means you share a few of Jax's own traits. But even so, such people don't even normally get along with each other let alone other people. Jax is a bit different, always readily available to have new social interactions with new people, so may be considered uncharacteristically friendly for the world they all live in Enemies Noctis, or Jax (being his first name) is the kind who wants to push your buttons, so he's going to be more featured on the enemies of people than being their friends - not necessarily a troublemaker, he indirectly brings trouble to himself by doing what he wants to do, which in a world of turbulence may mean generally getting in the way of others should that be his desire. His attitudes are fuelled by a genuine insecurity and lack of ability to understand other people, so he comes across as being insensitive and an airhead to mask the real issues at hand, preferring to deflect and redirect than to directly answer for himself or his actions. Love-ships? Because of the aforementioned issues in the enemies section - relationships aren't a thing that are likely to happen quickly nor easily. It would either take a strong personality that can overpower his and tame his own fiery energy, or a strong and resolute flame to melt his inner core. It would also mean having to put aside his clear issues and that's not bound to happen quickly. In terms of sexual partners, Jax is never averse to encounters, and has a particular desire towards beast girls.
short disclaimer: I will never make an OOC "relation" if Jax and said character have not yet met, excluding for when their history is already established (i.e. a family member, etc). This thread is merely for exploring those options and them then actually being put in a thread together, there's no guarantee a friendship will end out as such.
