She pressed her ear near the hut's makeshift door. Her eyes searched sightlessly as she attempted to seize audio of something outside.
BANG!
A start clutched her heart, bringing her own hand to her chest. She grabbed the hand of the young child nearby and when reaching a window, climbed outside. She turned around and helped her son out of the home and then she started to run.
From the corner of her vision, she caught sight of the creatures hellbent on breaking their way into their home. They were bears.
Angry blue bears.
Panting – panicked panting as she ran, her son on her back. His weight ate at her stamina, but her pace was quicker with it than with the two running separately.

”We gotta save them, Jinn. This is the 184th angry blue bear attack this month!”
Berry’s voice emanated from the radio and speakers system of the aircraft. Using her Take Over: Machina Soul Magic, the Sky Dragon Slayer employed her secondary abilities to take the form of a helicopter. With Jinn residing within the cockpit, she flew overhead and monitored the scene. The mother and son duo could pick up on the sound of loud rotor blades whirling and giant flashlights highlighting the scene. The rescue operation was here.
”Ma’am! Don’t worry! We’re here to help!” Shifting her voice from the radio to the loud speaker system, anything below would pick up on the loud noise from the slayer-turned-helicopter. Her voice was ripe with nonchalance and sounding on the cheekier side of the spectrum, but she did appear to be there to resolve the situation with her comrade in arms.
The voice changed back to the radio system as she neared the scene. Filled with anticipation, the helicopter spoke. ”’Kaaay. I think I’m gonna turn into a motorbike. I can land with you on my seat and then I’ll heal you while you take on the bears from my back.”

Clearly, Jinn's confusion had long-since passed. It was his first time in a mechanical, flying, dragon-slaying helicopter girl. In fact, he hardly knew what a helicopter was. In fact, he still didn't know what it was, but it flew and he was flying it - or rather, he was being flown by it.
"Agreed! We're not letting this family try and throw money at them. That rumour's pure bullshit. Doesn't deter shit. They'll trample right over it!"
The mother and son, sprinting with all their might, looked up in bewilderment as a giant, metallic, flying vehicle hovered overhead. The gales it spawned washed both them and the immediate surroundings over. Its persistent, rapid, and loud chopping sound smothered the tenseness of the situation away. In its place, confounding and alien phenomenon.
"Sure thing! Let's chase 'em down!"

”I’ll never apologize for blocking viruses and scams!”
With her battle cry ushered, the woman sped towards the scene below. The helicopter shifted around and shrunk in size, different segments of machinery aligning into a distinct arrangement. She and Jinn completed a fifteen-foot drop from the air onto the ground below after she changed her form into a black, Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
”You bears have the worst forms the world has ever seen! No more, no more crappy service!” The radio system of the motorcycle roared. If these vehicles lacked a radio, it appeared she managed to add one. Suited for off-road travel, the motorcycle tore across the earth at high velocity in pursuit of the duo being chased by the most annoying phenomena the world knew; both pre and post Calamity.
With her speed, they gained one the scene. It was only a matter of time before they caught up to the creatures, and put a stop to their passive aggression and piss-poor humour.

Jinn wanted to join in. The energy was there, but he had a hard time following what she was saying nearly all of the time.
“...Hell yeah!” he screamed at the beginning of the transformation. At one point, he was free of Berry's mechanical interior and in free fall. Somewhat anxious of falling directly onto the seat, he reached out for where he assumed handlebars would be.
“WOO!” He was able to bring himself to the seat instead of slamming onto the ol' family jewels.
“Those are some shitty forms, I agree!” he called after her. Taking one hand off of one of the handlebars, he clutched at the air in the direction of one of the bears. Something started leaking from it and traced itself into Jinn's palm.
“Mercy joked about eating heat. HAH! Look who's jokin' now!”

Three bears clad in blue fur gradually closed the distance between them and the family. However, a bike fell in the way. Startled, their pace was shattered. The red glow in their eyes, a sign of fervid, burning madness - it was not enough to deter them from their attack. Nothing could deter the angry blue bears from their attacks, after all, and most certainly not those who employed them.
One felt Jinn's leech of their essence, but hardly did it care. It ran forward and in a burst of speed, launched itself towards the bike and swiped at him.

Berry had little time after Jinn ripped the lifeforce from one of the bears to admire the sheer might required of the action. The angry bears lunged towards them, and she tried to swerve out of the way to avoid damage. Unfortunately, she had feeling the creature might have grazed her partner anyway. The Sky Dragon Slayer was not used to this terrain, nor was she proficient in the art of agility, either. At the very least, she was still fast.
With the limited damage he would have incurred from the motion, she decided to employ a tactic that might impede the bears. Releasing what appeared to be a pair of wires and hooks from a spot on her sides, she attempted to wrap it around the cerulean aggressors and prevent them from moving. Since she continued to plough forward at high speed, success would result in her dragging them with them across the hard ground. Have a feeling their thick hides will prevent any damage, though…

“AH, GARBAGE!”
He declared. He declared it was all garbage. “You exposed my insides!” he cried as flames spilled out of his back. While crimson lifeblood should have jettisoned from the wound the bear tore into him, flames licked at the air rushing it by instead.
“My parents sure knew what t' name me,” he jested, making the act known for what it was – just an act. He drew the blade and looked behind him. They were all caught in a net. One tore at the netting with its teeth while the other used their primal strength to break through the bindings. With a few steps lent to reviving their hellish sprints, they were back in pursuit.
One of the bears had a sword spike out from the back of its neck.
Jinn was no longer on the bike, but sailing rearward as he caught a bear in the mouth with his sword that he drew only moments ago.

It sounded like gagging on a wet napkin.
Its kin, the other two bears, kept running, leaving the other to choke on steel. It felt the blade leave its neck, albeit violently. Nightmarish, wet, erratic fluxes of growls and coughs ensued. It was still, gagging beneath the eerie blue light of Jinn's hellish flames. They danced about his body as he cast a gaze down at the creature. It lashed at him and sunk its claws into his chest, but Jinn did not move.
His face was placid, unchanging, with eyes contrasting the fire encompassing him with a stare cold, lancinating.

”My parents really like food, I guess.”
With her parents boasting the names Sugar and Apple, and her sister sporting the name Mint, she questioned their judgment at times. Knowledge that her attempt at ensnaring the beasts failed eclipsed her current thought pattern. In short time, she felt less weight on her “back.” One of the creatures ended up eating steel. Her appetite for the insidious multiplied.
”Mmm. Gonna have some good eats today,” she remarked, still navigating in her motorcycle form. Steering, she turned around to face the ensuing battle. The roar of the engine erupted through the atmosphere, and she circled around the beasts once more while Jinn consumed them in nightmarish flames.
With the intention to try again, her form transfigured back into its humanoid state. Reaching out with her hand, she attempted to seize the beasts under her telekinetic influence, restricting their movement through supernatural means instead.

The bear overcome with fear at the deathly stare, pungent with hatred, mercilessness – perversion that twists a spirit bloody and blue, it was swept over by a monochrome expulsion of cloud.
Left within its wake was a small, black cat-like creature. Jinn drifted in the air momentarily as if time slowed around him. Then, he fell upon his rump, bounced one, and then settled on his front. He laid there with his limbs sprawled out.
He sighed, apparently completely unaware of the situation he was in. “And that's that.”
Fortunate shone upon him as the bears were caught within her telekinetic clutch. Jinn took that opportunity to yawn. “I'm out of human juice, so there goes my chance of finishing them quickly...”
He just lazily tossed a fireball at one while still laying there sprawled out.

It reeled back as it saw flames licking at its claws. However, soon after, it found the least threatening thing sitting in front of it. Confusion followed - but at the same time, their bodies were seized by a phantasmal force. With their bodies locked in place, there was nothing they could do to assault the wizardly pair.

”Whoa! You can do that?”
After witnessing Jinn detonate into a small feline, she exhibited signs of confusion and surprise. Specializing in transformative arts herself, she reminded herself that such a feat was within the realm of possibility. Before she rapid fired more questions her partner’s way, she decided to prioritize the task at hand.
Witnessing Jinn throw a fireball at the aggressive bears, she decided to try to demonstrate her incredible offense. Knowing her luck, this would probably be the most accurate attack the continent ever witnessed. Don’t fuck me, Gil… Berry thought to herself, even though she had no idea who that was. Plucking a rock from the ground, she tapped into her slayer physiology.
Launching it hard towards one of the bear’s faces, she tried to take an eye out or something!

“...Huh?” Jinn began. Tinged with befuddlement, he casually thought about the question a second time. He realized that she was speaking of his shoddy form.
“Oh.” He pushed his feet beneath his now fur-paved front and then his paws were pulled in so he could slowly draw himself up into a sitting position. “I'm the most ill-fated of the Godfreys. I got all of the Huldra, you see – meaning...”
At that point, Jinn lost the motivation to finish the sentence. He did watch Berry try to throw a rock at the bear he was just picking on. At is sailed passed it, he trotted over. There was no haste to his steps. At all. The only thing missing were the sounds of a plushie being squeezed with each step he made.
He lifted his front paws and placed them on the top of the bear's foot. A small smirk surfaced, gradually, as if he thought of something amusing.
“Hot feet...”
Flesh curled, fur burned down like candle-wicks bathed in gasoline as black and green flames erupted into being on the foot's top, then up the shin, not shying away from the groin of course, and if it did not have trouble even opening its mouth, perhaps a louder growl of pain would have been released.

He could hardly look to his assumed friends. With eyes curtained in burning red, it was difficult to tell where any of them were looking, but the one that suffered the most was definitely looking to his friends for help. They were caught too, however.
They could only watch as a cat slowly made its way over and set fire to their friend's lower half. Unable to move, unable to reach out and claw at the both of them, their attacks were essentially nullified. They had no additional powers. Really, the bears were just a nuisance that nobody wanted to bother with. At some point, somebody always had to deal with them, though.
Some eerie combination of growl and wail became a replacement for the whistling winds in the background.
