Orion Prima

There was something with her reaction. Something too quick. A bit more forceful. And maybe a little less truthful as well. Orion would not comment on it, instead, he'd leave it be. It might be something of importance, a secret of some sort. Or, it probably was nothing. A chance encounter turned sour. The more Orion thought about it, the more the last part made more sense. She seemed harmless! What could she have done to make a dragon-like creature unhappy?

"Well, at least it seems as though it could not follow us on land," Orion sighed in relief, "that giant creature...looked like a dragon, didn't it?" He mused, unsure of whether he had seen what he had seen, or maybe it was a trick of the ocean reflecting the sun. It looked like a dragon, but then, it could have been something else.

The question was asked, and Orion thought for a moment. There really was only one safe place for Mynte to be in, at least in his own opinion. "Yeah, I know of a place. Although we'll have to speak to its proprietor." Cait Shelter will take Mynte in, if Orion had anything to say about it. "I suppose you'll be staying on land then?" The question was asked with more enthusiasm than he expected from himself, and blushed just a bit at his antics, "I mean...uhh..." utterly speechless once again.

Very much unwilling to delve into the specifics of the 'giant creature' which had been pursuing her, Mynte only offered a wordless shrug. Please drop it. She silently urged. She didn't want to lie to the man who had just risked everything to save her. But at the same time, she certainly did not explain the whole situation.

She visibly perked up as Orion provided her with his opinion. "Oh? That would be lovely! I hope this… proprietor will let me. I know nothing about this… land." The mermaid lowered her gaze and stared at the two bulges in the black cloth that marked her two feet.

"I can't go back to the sea." She said softly with a touch of solemn melancholy. "I don't think I ever will…"

Maybe the trauma was a bit too recent. Orion had simply not thought about that, and brazenly asked the question. In the future, Orion was sure she might be able to shed more light, but for now, the most important thing is that she was safe from harm. Yes, maybe he's asked in the future. For now, they need to address another matter.

"I'm sure he will! I'll vouch for you!" Orion grinned, his master could not say no, after all. And if she was..."can you do magic, by chance?" If she was a mage, it'd be even easier to convince his master to accept the mermaid-turned-woman into the guild.

He paused, "I'm sure one day you will!" Orion smiled, "One day, you'll be able to go back. You'll be strong enough then!"

"Oh? Me?" Mynte was startled as the subject turned towards her own skills in magic. "I – I guess I can." She affirmed, staring at her hands as though they would burst into magical flames at any moment. "I can control water… like a Water Mage." She said. It wasn't a lie. It just wasn't the whole truth. But how could she tell the nice man that she was a Water Dragon Slayer? What if he rejected her?

As Orion's optimistic words pierced the air, Mynte flashed him a tentative but pure smile. "Perhaps."

But she was in no rush to get back. For staring at this man, she felt as though she was already home.

Orion smiled, an idea already forming in his mind as he heard her say Water Mage. Electricity. Water. Those two together would just happen to result into an interesting combination. Electricity's property as a damaging element, magnified by the Mynte's water magic, would definitely be something very terrifying to behold.

"That's interesting," Orion started, smirking, "electricity is a natural enemy of water," he paused, "but it is also it's natural ally."

Nodding to himself, Orion quickly felt himself slowly drift off to sleep once more. Morpheus called, and his harrowing day had been too much for hos own body. The heat from the sun while he was fishing had not helped, while the dragon-like creature certainly made things more stressful. They were alive though, and that's what mattered.

Orion slowly fell asleep, eyes finally closed as he felt himself lean on the mermaid-turned-woman. There was no strength left in him. Morpheus having already claimed his soul for the night.
