Sovereign had met celestial spirits before, conversed with them, and even fought alongside them. But he had never gone toe to toe with one, in fact, he didn't think it possible. Divine beings born from the stars, given physical form through the use of their own power or celestial keys. But it turns out they're nothing but glorified warriors with skill equal to his own, if not less. "Perhaps that's our difference. I possess my own power to fight for myself, yet your weakness causes you to rely on others."With that, he would thrust his mace forward as his weapon and the valkyrie's spear would collide in mid-air. Magic built up on contact, and he smiled in the face of the spirit. "Pathetic!"He pushed his weight into the counter, using Bite Back to hurl Valkyrie down towards Mercy in hopes of making the two painfully collide. At the same time, he would land on the ground, his clones there to catch him and cushion his fall.

ABILITY DESCRIPTION: After successfully dodging an attack, Sovereign can magically return the damage in a variety of ways. He can either have a shadowy version of himself suddenly appear, leaping out his body before striking or exploding. Or a clone could morph into a particular weapon used, mimicking the attack back to the opponent. Ranged counters can be handled differently, capable of firing off a bolt of black energy from himself or his clones. Whatever the way this is done, it involves the use of a clone which is used to counter attack. This consumes 10 mana.

Mercy couldn't think of a witty reply to the guild master's retort. She'd never admit it, but he'd hit a sore spot for her. It wasn't often when the cocky teen was made to feel weak, and when she did, she felt nothing but fury.

Even at the face of a Spirit falling towards her from the sky like a meteor, Mercy glared up stubbornly, swiping her Silver Key upwards and opening the exit Gate for the Spirit to fall back into instead of colliding onto her body entirely. Although the Spirit was successfully returned to its home dimension, the magical energies in which Sovereign had thrust downwards remained to blast Mercy onto the floor.

Rolling to her feet, Mercy drew out her third and final Key.

"Open the Gate of the Snake! Ophiuchus!" The 13th Spirit of the Zodiac flew out of its Gate and towards Sovereign, intent on wrapping its serpentine body around the man to constrict it as a python would for its prey.

She hadn't responded that time, and instead was very smart enough to close the spirits gate before she felt the full force of it hitting her. Thankfully, there was still the remaining black energies sent from Sovereign that hit her slightly, but he was still not happy about it. Neither had the attack power to end this quickly, and both seemed to be quite good at blocking and defending. This was going to be a long fight. Then he saw it, a golden shine that glinted in the light of the sun. A golden celestial key, were they different to the silver ones she had used before hand? It would appear so. The black serpent shot forwards, colossal in size and sinister in nature. Sovereign barely had a time to react, the spirit coiling around him with its giant body as it held him in place. Sovereign gasped out as he felt its weight, though he resisted any damage for the time being. Sadly, it was only going to make things difficult for him. "Embrace!" He shouted out, muffled beneath the obsidian scales of the reptile. Seeping out of the cracks of the coiled serpent was black magic, his clones crawling out before they fired off to Mercy, their bodies decomposing into ethernano as they did so.

"Oh not again!" Mercy cried as she saw the clones-turned black magic seep through Ophiuchus's coils to fly towards her. She had just pulled herself from the first lot of black sludge and was not ready for an encore.

Pivoting on the spot and dashing towards the side, the girl managed to avoid the black ethernano.

At the same time, Ophiuchus's muscles around Sovereign began to tense as the Zodiac began to tightening its grip around the man, attempting to crush his ribs and constrict his lungs.

Although still being squashed inside the giant serpent's coil, he still knew his attack didn't connect. He felt his magic wither away after not meeting its mark, and now he was left in a very tight spot, his limbs all being squashed in towards his body as it constricted him further. Using all his might, he would groan as he started pushing out with all his limbs, looking a little bit like a starfish as he kept the snakes weight at bay. He had managed to avoid any major damage, but it was exhausting work.While he was busy trying to break free, a few clones would appear around Mercy, not fully perfect due to Sovereign already preoccupied. They were human shaped, but made mainly of black and purple wisps, the only thing reminiscent of him were the large smiles plastered on their faces. Mimicking that of her serpent spirit, their tongues were like a reptile's, hissing as their bodies broke down into ethernano as they swirled around her, gradually merging together to mimic the attack of the snake, rapidly closing in on her as the serpent sovereign's would go to constrict her too.

Surprisingly, Ophiuchus's constriction was not successful. Courtesy to the snake's massive body, Mercy was not able to see what was happening.

She soon discovered that she had other matters to attend to as clones manifested around the teenager. She grimaced at their appearance, staring in bemusement at their hissing tongues. Their hazy forms soon merged into a big mass as they mimicked Ophiuchus. Mercy tried to fight back against them, but to no avail. She felt pressure around all sides of her body as the black mist wrapped tightly around her.

"Ophiuchus! Again!" She cried. She wasn't able to fight the clones, but she was able to fight their creator.

His clones of shadow would successfully coil around Mercy, their bodies snaking across her torso, arms and legs and tightening to a painful amount before dissipating into ethernano. Meanwhile, Sovereign was now trying to pry himself free of the giant serpent. Once more, he felt it try and tighten around him, though this time, he managed to squeeze out of a slight gap and tumble across the floor. More clones would rise up around him, holding the serpent at bay as best they could while the real Sovereign would charge ahead to Mercy. With his mace raised, he'd hope to swing it down hard onto her shoulder, not holding back one bit.

Ophiuchus's renewed efforts were to no avail. Mercy watched with horror as Sovereign pried himself free to begin charging towards her. Given that her snake Spirit was now too far to intervene as well as the fact that it was held back by more clones, Mercy simultaneously closed its gate and opened another.

As the Snake disappeared in a shimmer of golden particles, bounding forth from yet another magic circle was none other than the returning Fenrir. The wolf appeared rather disgruntled by the fact that Mercy was yet to leave the grounds of Quatro Cerberus but it nonetheless came to her aid.

Before Sovereign's mace could slam into Mercy's shoulder, Fenrir closed its jaws around the weapon and would attempt to wrench it around like a dog with a chew toy. Using its enormous strength to try and slam Sovereign to the ground, using the mace like a handle.

This rapid opening and closing of portals was annoying, but Sovereign couldn't help but be impressed by her quick thinking. He had never battled a celestial mage before, and so far he was definitely enjoying himself with it all. The smile on his face only grew larger by the second, it was unnaturally so, the corners disappearing under the bottom of his mask. "Such fun!" he laughed, the wolf's large jaws clamping tight around his mace and throwing him back to slam him into the ground. But he'd wrench the mace out just in time, using the momentum to jump back up into the air. "Bite Back!" A few of his clones suddenly zipped towards Fenris, merging together into a giant wolf head before hurtling towards Mercy with their fangs bared. Shortly after, clones would materialise in the air above her before jumping down to grab and restrain her.

Gods, the man's constant dodging and moving was getting annoying. Mercy's irritation only grew at her opponent's laugher. "Stop!" She cried angrily, more out of frustration than of any hope of a miracle that he would actually follow the demand.

Fenrir was a lot more helpful, trying to intercept both clones and giant wolf head with his body through a carefully timed leap before it would hit Mercy. The giant disembodied head snapped its jaws across Fenrir's hind legs, causing deep puncture wounds across those limbs. Blood flew through the air as the wolf bounded still. It was able to make it in time to push the other clones out of the air above Mercy before they could restrain the girl.

"Woah!" Mercy cried, staggering backwards out of the way of her Spirit as it began to viciously shred into and devour chunks of the clones' flesh.

"Stop fooling around, you're just prolonging your defeat!" Sovereign teased, all his clones speaking together as they got mauled and shredded apart, only to be replaced by more of them. It was like an endless army, always replacing what had been destroyed. Once again, Sovereign would repeat the same attacks. Some of his clones turned into chains of shadow, firing towards Mercy to grapple her and wrap around her body tightly. Every clone that was harmed and destroyed by Fenris would simply morph into black magic, a mass of energy building up before launching itself towards its owner in the form of giant wolf claws.

Mercy scowled at the implication that she was simply just 'fooling around'. She had begun to regret her decision to challenge the guild master to a battle. But she had to see this through. Even though Fenrir's slaughtering of the clones was just as fast as their replacements, the wolf was relentless in its attacks.

She danced out of the way of clones which attempted to grapple her.

"Not so eager to join your dead guild master?" Mercy taunted, trying to disguise her irritation through a shit-eating grin. If she could not beat Sovereign with claws and teeth, perhaps words could do the trick. She of course remained entirely ignorant of the sibling relationship between the current and past guild masters.

Meanwhile, Fenrir was slowing being consumed by the masses of clones until not even Mercy could see the Spirit. There was a moment of pause from the wolf, then it would attempt to shake the pile off of itself, flinging the clones away like an explosion, with an enraged howl.

The army of Sovereign's continued to swarm the wolf, swinging their maces and exploding into black bursts of magic. Although this would be a long fight, he knew he would eventually win if he was patient and calm. He could easily dodge all her attacks, and he would return the pain back to her. But then she had to go ahead and say that. The real Sovereign paused, stopping in his tracks some way away as he held his hand over his mouth, tracing his finger across his lower lip. It stunned him that Mercy would say something so low, though then again she probably had no idea of his relation with William. Regardless, it ignited a fury inside him. A sickness that his brother had, a rage, a hatred. " Hold your tongue, you little bitch." Sovereign spat, marching forwards towards her with nothing but hatred boiling inside him. His magic flared up slightly, black ethernano swirling around his feet. His clones morphed into black wolves, jumping to maul Mercy while also pin her down and grapple her.

Mercy expected a reaction from the man, just not that. In fact, the ferocity at which the male presented to her caused Mercy's brow to shoot up into her bangs. Her surprise quickly morphed into smug cruelty as her voice adopted a sing song-like intonation. "Oh? Hit a little close to home?~"

Her taunt doubled as an attempt to mask her growing apprehension at the man's approach, and she stared warily at the swirling black ethernano. The teenager continued to twirl out of the way of the surrounding black wolves, narrowly avoiding their attempt to pin her down.

Fenrir meanwhile, continued to shake itself free from the swarm of clones. Mercy snapped her fingers and the Wolf turned it's attention onto her. Ignoring the fact that the clones were clinging onto its fur and such, the Spirit charged towards Sovereign, as the original was now easy to distinguish apart. The Wolf would attempt to launch itself at the man and snap its jaws around his throat.

He was sick of these games, so sick of her avoiding the attacks he wanted to hit. It was taking a lot of willpower not to just unleash his strongest attacks on her so soon, but he had an idea in mind.
