MISSION NAME: Banish the Banshee CLIENT: Guild Board CHARACTERS: Sovereign Pale & Mint Everett-Bailey MISSION BRIEFING: Recently a spirit of some form has taken shape near a village, but rather than being fearful of the beast, the villagers are in fact worshiping it and claiming it brings them good fortune. Whatever the case, certain spirits just do not belong in this world and must be banished.
--
Slate Town was, more or less, off the map for most due to the lack of accessible ways to travel to it. The occupants kept to themselves, surviving off their own merits without relying on trade among other settlements. Salvatore had been enlisted by the guild master himself to investigate it and the rumors surrounding a ghost -- or spirit -- having recently taken root there and garnering the Slateian's trust enough to be worshiped.
It must be a smart ass spirit.
The flight there had been long but enjoyable; being in the skies with nothing but miles and miles of natural terrain as a visual was one of the only things he really enjoyed about existence. In fact, despite the ache in his wings, he felt disappointment when the poor village came into view - it meant his relaxation time was over and that he'd have to deal with more idiots of mankind.
He'd land atop one of the only truly sturdy structures there, made entirely of tone bricks, and crouched down to be speak to a man hammering on an anvil just outside of it. The structure was small, so the man was certainly within earshot.
"Yo. I hear ya'll have a God around these parts. Mind telling me where?"
Even though he tried, his expression failed to be amiable, but at least it wasn't an outright scowl.

I'mma pretend he thought was supposed to this alone haha, cause I wasn't sure how Sov generally travels >_> Hope that's okay. (Post 1)

"Salvyyyy! You're already here!" An excited voice would be heard from the distance, a small carriage being pulled by a couple horses with an old man holding the reigns. Leaning out the window smiling would be Sovereign Pale, master of Quatro Cerberus. He was waving at Salvatore, before hopping back into the carriage and bouncing around like a child. The carriage hadn't even stopped yet and Sovereign jumped out, running over to his guild member who was standing atop a small brick building. Another copy of Sovereign would appear behind him, leaping forwards, arms extended out to wrap around the man in a playful manner. "Wow! Did you fly here with your wings?!" Sovereign began marvelling at them, more clones hopping around Salvatore like a little bunny. "So coooooool!"It was quite odd seeing the guild master behave in this manner, especially being the younger brother of such a ruthless and bloodthirsty man. But few knew that Sovereign could behave in a similar way, and most of the time his playful attitude was just a visage. "Oops, sorry." The group of Sovereign's surrounding the man would step back, giggling playfully. "Did I interupt a conversation?"They all looked down in unison to the blacksmith, "Oh wowowowow! You're already getting to the bottom of this? Amazingggg!" They all threw up their hands in the air in celebration, before swarming around the confused villager. "What the? Uh, God? What are you talking about?" He'd ask nervously, not because he was hiding anything, but because of the strange arrival of the masked men who all looked exactly the same. "Y'knowwww, the cool spirit thing yeah? Granting all your wishes, righting your wrongs." They playfully punched his shoulder, smiling at him. "Please, sir. We just want to take a look. Pretty pleeaaase!"

"Salvy!!"
Salvatore felt a cloud of unease abruptly compound around him. Sovereign himself was here? The fairy's expression returned to it's typical scowl when the man bounded over and sent a clone to wrap around his backside. He could actually feel his left eye twitching at the contact, his scowl turning deadpan when more clones began to circle him, all excited and insane.
Of all the guilds in the world, he had somehow ended up with this eccentric piece of a work as his Guild Master. But money was money, and he wasn't idiotic enough to combat the more powerful mage's affections.
Salvatore simply and sourly nodded, a response to both the flight and conversation related inquiries.
He'd let the GM take over then -- not that he had any real choice in the matter -- and would merely remain perched atop the blacksmith's tiny building as the many Sovereign's surrounded the befuddled smithy.
"I-uh-oh." The man was extremely tense as the group of clones "peered" in on him in unison, but he seemed to be coherent enough to at least listen to the words being spoke to him. "Yes-the spirit is-uh-in our temple just north of the village."
Sal, never one to waste unnecessary time when on the job, gave a short-breathed "Thanks," before he simply began to fly off toward the north end of the village - but he bothered keeping low enough to keep Sovereign in range. In fact, he was so "polite" he didn't even speed off, but kept a slow enough pace to where the walking man wouldn't have to run in turn.
He half wanted to ask why Sovereign himself would come participate in such a mission, but he felt like that would be more effort than it was worth. Especially given how high-powered Sov's energy level seemed to be right now.

"The spirit's in the temple." he repeated, "Splendid!" The clones clapped their hands together once, affirming what he had heard before all looking up at Salvatore with an unnaturally large smile. "Welp, let's head there straight away." They would all begin marching off, some of the duplicates flickering in and out of existence in blurs of black and red magic. They'd then reappear somewhere else in the distance, rummaging through stalls, crates or peeking through windows. The guild master liked to get a good feel of where he was, and be as familiar with his surroundings as he was with himself. Salvatore's fairy wings began to flutter, a hypnotic sound and display of his heritage as he started flying north to the village. Sovereign almost called out for him to slow down, but was pleasantly surprised when he was already travelling at a reasonable pace. "Awww, thank you for not flying off so fast!" He'd jog a tiny bit at the start just to catch up, but was able to walk normally by his side. "So Salvy, how are you!? Have you been up to anything exciting?" A barrage of questions would be fired, each asked by a different body of Sovereign, "What about the guild itself? Treating you well? You like the new changes being made?"

Moving a snails pace meant conversation: one of the things Salvatore hated most. He'd sigh as he watched several clones blink in and out of existence as they rummaged throughout the surrounding town, evidently investigating for things to steal or destroy - who knew, really. Sov was an enigma as far as he was concerned.
Upon the man's thanks Salvatore gave a simple nod, before being forced to participate in the rest of the chat. Had it been anyone else but the Guild Master, he'd of shamelessly elected to not answer.
"I don't know about exciting but there's been plenty of annoying things happening. Zombies for instance." He'd turn his emerald gaze down toward Sov, his scowl only mediating in the form of a quirking brow, "You were involved in the undead "mothers" fight, weren't ya?"
"But uh.. y-yes. I agree with the changes."
He looked away with that, not honestly wanting to admit it. The guild before had been so haphazard and insane. And even if the members still remaining were generally able to fall under those two categories, at least they were under more control than before. Sal had joined because he was born in Basalt and wanted an easy path of survival; quick coin and a Guild tattoo was the way. But he was ultimately a good guy, so, the guild's previous state was.. not something he clicked with. Even now he had difficulty in connecting with the scum that remained, but, he had low-key been grateful of Sovereign's attempt to remodel the guild's overall mentality.

A New God..? [Mission/Closed]
Sept 25, 2019 14:29:09 GMT
edited on Sept 25, 2019 14:29:19 GMT by Sovereign Pale
"Oh yes, the undead were a nuisance." Sovereign giggled, thinking back to all his scuffles with the unholy creatures. "You knock 'em down and they just get back up again! Was very annoying." His fight at the final battle was definitely something he'll remember. It was such a chaotic duel between that hideous thing and wizards. Many died, but only because they were stupid enough to put themselves in that position the first place. "The zombie mother thing? Yeah, that was kinda cool. Ended quite quickly though, and she didn't even manage to put a scratch on me." Sovereign shrugged, even he was impressed by his ability to not get harmed at all during that fight. "The changes are great, aren't they?!" He got excited once again, running in front of Salvatore to look at him while they spoke. "No more bumming around all day and skulking in the shadows, I'm putting those hooligans to work!" Sovereign was still walking, except he was doing it backwards and didn't once turn around to see where he was going. Somehow, he still managed to avoid bumping into anything or anyone, weaving in and out of a few people or hopping backwards over a wooden box that had spilled fruit on the floor. "Some members are still getting used to it though, they used Quatro Cerberus as a means of getting away with being mean. And being mean just isn't good! No, no, no.""But it's really fun!" A voice shouted, coming from behind a building, it was just another Sovereign butting into the conversation. They all gathered in the street again, walking side by side with their hands behind their back. "Oooh, looks like we're here. I think? Pretty boring shrine if you ask me, I would have added some skulls or something." They came up to a small hill, with stone steps leading up to the top, where a small wooden shack was situated. In front of the shack was a tall tower made of large rocks that had been stacked on top of each other. There was nobody here but a cat sleeping under an apple tree. In perfect unison, all Sovereign's would bend down and smile at the creature. "Boo!" They all shouted, the cat jumping from fright and running away, leaving Sovereign very happy with himself.

Salvatore might of bothered answering the masked man's inquiries, but when it came to his playback he would only stoically nod. He had heard of Sov's defensive capabilities before, so it was not surprising to hear he had withstood the zombie mother's attacks with ease. But he did wonder what it would've been like to be there himself; yet, he was frankly glad he hadn't been, either. He'd rather watch from afar than be involved. Too much of a hassle. And why bother when stronger mages had it covered?
Had the Guild Master always been this.. perky? Honestly, he had been recruited when closeness to other guild mates wasn't really a priority, so he'd never gotten to know them outside of using them for whatever purpose he had wanted. Gathering money had been the only reason he had bothered signing up with the guild in the first place. Though, admittedly, he had never participated in the morally obscene type of tasks that had previously been available. And certainly went out of his way to avoid the morally corrupt. He might be an asshole but he wasn't a evil.
"Yup." Was all he would decide to give, issuing his stance on the subject as a clear and definitive agreement.
When they arrived, he'd float ahead, hands shoved into his pockets as he witnessed the many Sovereign's terrify a slumbering cat. When it ran off, he'd turn to look the place over. "So a spirit is supposed to be here?"
As if on cue, the entire shack began to let off an eerie gray smoke, but it was evidently not from a source of fire, but rather a film that enveloped the whole thing.
Guess that answers that.
"Ey spirit of shit, I do not worship you. You are akin to feces. Leave this village before I piss on your temple."
His words came out so monotone, a forced dialogue, but an intentional one: drag the spirit out via insulting it seemed like a reasonable first step to vanquishing it. Or, ya know, maybe it would just leave if it were on the more emotionally sensitive spectrum. Whichever honestly worked for him.

Maybe it lived here? Sovereign wondered if the little shack was always here, or if it was literally built to house the spirit. How odd, he didn't know magical entities liked to potter about in kitchens and dining rooms. Was the pile of rocks not enough? Jeez, they were getting more demanding by the day. Salvatore had a bunch of lovely words he wanted to say, declaring a plethora of insults and threats as the grey mist begin to seep out from the building. But it was more like a bubble of grey mist, causing it to ripple like water as if space had torn somehow. "Oh, uh... We're pissing on it?" Sovereign asked, pretending like he was taking Salvatore seriously. "I- I'm your guildmaster, I can't see you do that kinda stuff!" Sovereign waved his hands and stepped back from Salvatore, "Let's just see what the thing wants first, yeah?"The cat Sovereign had scared returned once more, perched on the window ledge from inside the building. It stared at the two, its two eyes like pennies in a well. As it stretched its back, the front door would slowly open, and a gust of wind blew out from it. There was nothing there, apart from a deep chill and a feminine voice as smooth as honey. "Boys, boys... What brings you to my home? I do hope you haven't just come here to desecrate my lovely hut that the people of this town spent hours building."The voice didn't sound threatening, friendly in fact. It seemed to tease them, toy with them, and not find the two threatening in the slightest. Well, who would? One was a goth-pixie and the other acted like a child. The spirit would be none the wiser of what they could really do. "Oh, spirit lady? Where are you?" Sovereign looked around, grinning with glee. "I heard you make wishes come true, wanted to test it out myself."There was a moment of silence, and the door opened further, "Wishes? Ah, displays of my power to make your life better, is that it? Yes, that is why I'm here, why I'm worshipped. Tell me, what do you boys want?"

Salvatore sent a sideward squint toward Sovereign, who apparently wanted to communicate with the spirit before vanquishing it. Tch, what a waste of time. He would shrug, digging his hands deeper into his pockets as his wings reversed him backward, to sort himself behind Sov to land on the beaten path from years of use.
The door of the shack opened slightly, and with it came a breeze and a voice. Kindly one, at that. Evidently it had not been in the 'sensitive category.' It wasn't even concerned with the apparent blasphemer and his masked buddy.
When the two exchanged commentary of wishes, the fairy would try not to give the Guild Master a questioning look - but it was very hard.
Instead he would remain in the back, allowing Sov to answer the inquiry of what they wanted. Personally he wasn't in the mood to make friends with a ghost or toy with ideas of granted wishes, especially when the end goal was to destroy it.

"Please leave." Sovereign said calmly, smiling at the invisible woman who may or may not be the owner of this cat. There was another pause, and Sovereign honestly thought that it had left just like that. If only it was that easy. "No." The spirit replied quickly, "I live here, I'm worshipped here."Sovereign sighed, "I wish for you to go?""Do not mock powers beyond your understanding." The voice grew more annoyed now, and the wind picked up slightly. Oh, how scary! Sovereign had encountered his fair share of 'greater forces', and honestly they were just glorified ghosts or some shit that needed to be put in their place. They get a little taste for power and they think it's the ancient times again. Smiling, he walked over to the shrine, "Oh pretty please leave!" He whined like a child, before grabbing his mace and swinging it brutally at the stack of stones. They crumbled with ease, the tower falling down into a heap of mess. "Idiot children!" The voice screamed, and the fog began to thicken at the entrance of the door, condensing together into a shape that was definitely a woman's. It then took a bit of colour, darker shades for hair and lighter for some kind of gown. The banshee stood there, tall and grotesque. Her face was horrifying, and her clothes and hair floated as if she were underwater. It's jaw unhinged to unnatural lengths, opening wide before she released an ear splitting screech. Sovereign winced and covered his ears, trying to dull the pain. "Shut up, stupid!"

Oh? Salvatore's perception of the situation changed when Sov got down to business. Hell, the taunting of the spirit even almost made his scowl break into an amused smirk. But he resisted -- on the off chance someone was watching -- and began to manifest shards of fairy dust to hover around his person. They glowed like bright-green, magical kunais.
"Idiot children!"
She didn't like her little stone tower being crumbled, eh?
For good measure, Salvatore decided to desecrate her temple and deny her "mightiness" by throwing a few kunai through the shack walls, penetrating them with ease. Quickly after the fog condensed and created the form of some.. floating zombie lookin' ass hoe.
He suddenly spit, the glob of it splatting against the ground. "You're disgusting."
As a screech erupted, his pockets were forced to empty themselves of his hands as they closed around his ears.
Agitated, he'd send the remaining variety of fairy dust-make kunai toward the woman's form, hoping to shut her up for even just a second. Shit she was annoying.

Not only did the screech hurt, but it was also like an alarm. The village all heard it, the cry coming from the temple to their 'god'. Some came running over instantly, attempting to run up the hill to help their fake deity and fight the two quatro cerberus members. "You can't pass here, we're on official business." A huge group of clones appeared at the bottom, forming a firm defense around the hill to prevent people from running up. People protested, trying to push them out the way and fight them, but they would quickly find that there was just no getting past these clones. Their bodies were magic, and attacks slipped right through them, but they could still dish out the punches and kicks to put these stupid townspeople in their place. "We said you can't pass here." Their voices unified, loud and strict. But it would make things much harder to fight the banshee with idiots in the way. As fairy dust sliced forwards through the air towards the banshee, slicing into her flesh, Sovereign would try to stand up firm again and pick up his mace that he dropped. The pain of the hardened dust cutting into the spirit was enough to shut her up, she hissed at them before lurching forwards, crawling along the ground on all fours at fast speeds. "Freakyyyy!" Sovereign shouted as a few more clones appeared, mixing him up in the crowd. It would jump forwards like some kind of predator, landing on a clone and ripping its head off. As she did that however, the clone simply exploded with black magic, blasting the banshee up into the air. Sovereign and all his clones would then start running around, pretending to be scared and pose like damsels in distress, "Oh Salvy! I'm so scared, please help meeee!"

When the villagers began to gather, only to be blocked by a line-defense of repeating Sovereign's, Salvatore would shake his head. These dumb fuckers. Mankind was the worst. Trying to ignore their heated existence as they yelled their protests, he'd find that nothing about this situation was level one chill. Even Sovereign's own antics took away from that possibility, as one of his clones got its' head torn off, exploded and then several more clones appeared to scream and flail.
Holy fucking Spirit King. This was a clusterfuck if there ever was one.
Disinterested in being anywhere near any of these maniacs, Salvatore's four dragonfly-liken wings began to flutter behind him, rising him back into the air until they were all comfortably out of distance. Especially the crawling creep-ass spirit.
"All of you are a hassle."
A giant emerald fist began to manifest next to him, before it shot down to attempt to smash at the banshee -- and even the 'damsels in distress' -- but he could get away with the excuse being that it was just a really big fist. Oops.

This was all a joke to Sovereign, he didn't really see this banshee as a threat. She was just scary looking, that was all. In fact, Sovereign thought the main threat were the people at the bottom of the hill. He knew he could mess around like this and get away with it, if things got too much he'd just get a little more serious. But for now, he could have fun and test Salvatore a little bit. When the banshee regained balance, she'd only get knocked back down again by a fist of glowing emerald light. it slammed into her hard, and also got a few clones on the way down. They fell to the floor and started screaming, acting as if they were literally dying. "Oh my god! My legs! Salvy whyyyy?!" They flailed some more, making weird grunts and screams. Other clones would run to the ones that had been knocked down, and collapse to their knees, "Noooo, please don't die!"Honestly, this whole thing was a train-wreck. Who let this 12 year old boy be a guild master? Honestly... Screaming slightly once more, the banshee would fly up through the air towards Salvatore, her elongated fingers spreading out into claws as she'd try to swipe at his chest and face.

Tch, they are still alive. And so was the banshee, but she was an after thought at this point. Until she started flying toward him, that is. Attempting to regain focus his dust-make fist disappeared abruptly, before a shimmering green wall put itself between him and her swipe. Successfully thwarting her attempt, he'd try to manipulate the dust to then encompass her entire figure, trying his damnedest to ignore the screaming that was occurring below them.
