"So..."

A young male casually strode towards the center of the demolished warehouse. His clothes were - well, casual, time-weathered - very appropriate for the era they lived in. A black tail whips to and fro behind him and his eye lit upon one corner of the building to the other.

"Anyone... even around, or... what?" he asked. He did not see anybody. There were some bystanders. They called out to him mockingly. "I mean, the one I'm training with - the fox said for me to go ahead 'in their steed.'"

Despite having the sword at his back, he took it off and tossed it by the wayside. It collided with a clank and slid until coming to a complete halt. "Don't need to bring that into things, I don't think..."

"Oh, shi-" Jinn scrambled to pick up the sword after catching sight of the spear. "Live steel! Ballsy, I like it!" He flashed Hilbert a toothy grin - yet, the sword remained sheathed nonetheless despite Jinn holding the katana at the ready. It was a somewhat odd sight. Strangely, nobody made a comment about it.

"Let's see..."

Jinn said something, but nothing happened. The self-made mutter triggered no visible event, but after a fleeting moment, Jinn said something to Hilbert that was odd to say the least.

"Oh, I've fought you before..." He admitted. "This'll be tricky for sure. Man, I have such a long way to go..." And then Jinn shot forward an attempted to bop Hilbert on the head with his sheathed katana.

The spear hit with such intensity and accuracy that Jinn exploded.

What erupted forth from his punctured body was not blood or even a fiery explosion. It was smoke, which obscured his whole form with the amount that disgorged out from his body, locked in free-fall.

And then what fell through the evanescing curtains of smoke was a small, black cat. He hit the ground and rolled a little ways forward until he met the tip of Hilbert's foot.

“How embarrassing for me. I've reverted. Again...” With the tone he spoke in, it was clear that he possessed absolutely no enthusiasm for the event whatsoever. Not even a little bit.

Even still, while he was explaining the situation as he normally did, ostensibly to himself, he actually had already moved right on top of Hilbert's foot. There he sat until he bopped him right in the shin with what fist he could make out of his front paw.

“Boop...”

Upon drawing the paw rearward, the pulling gesture created a vacuum capable of drawing heat from his opponent, which his body thirsted for. The heat drawn from others only bolstered his own regenerative abilities.

“There's that name, again,” he said in a begrudging tone. Something about betrayal followed, and so did some variety of energy projectile. He lazily looked up at what he perceived as an all-encompassing curtain of green. The impact spawned a localized explosion and sent the cat bouncing away like a skipping stone.

Though, he did not seem to mind.

How he picked himself up suggested, with a realization slightly dispiriting, that for whatever reason, the feline was used to it.

“Maybe I'll think about working on that,” he said to himself. It was difficult to say exactly what he was talking about, but the flame at Hilbert's foot was still there. With a clap from a hasty pair of paws, it exploded – but just a small one.
