Just about a year ago, a powerful magic broke the barriers between worlds, causing many supernatural beings to sneak on through. There were, of course, always supernatural beings within the world, but before the broken barriers, they stayed hidden. Now creatures such as elves are roaming the streets along with demons coming up from the underworld, terrorizing those living in the human realm. Angels have begun to walk the earth, witches are growing in power, werewolves, merfolk and monsters that have only ever been discussed over fires in hidden sanctuaries roam. Vampires span the globe, and even powerful golems can be encountered. The devil himself has risen, feeding off the corruption and fear of the world. His goal is as it has ever been, a throne rivaling that of God's, and the pleasure of eliminating any other magical beings that just so happen to get in his way.
This plot takes place mainly in North America where some have chosen to stay put and deal with the problems head on while others have chosen to live their lives in Safe Havens. Times have changed, and the broken barriers have caused other supernatural beings that have been around all along out of hiding. The monsters that were living in the dark now roam in the light.
The sole purpose of the Havens has been peace. All supernatural beings willing to abide by their rules and values are allowed to stay, though demons are never welcomed. Heroes within the havens have risen up to protect the people inside. Human hunters fighting alongside the supernatural against the supernatural and humans that choose to abandon the side of good.
