moving on! [open to 1]

Rhyolite had had rumors of a band of thugs recently stirring trouble, stealing and bullying their way to possessions that weren't theirs. And despite the village possessing it's own guild to protect it, Ivory had decided to investigate of her own volition, given that she had been visiting the town anyways.

As such, the woman was currently in the form an orange tabby cat, who was perched along a brick wall, her bright apricot eyes watching the peaceful village go about it's daily routines as the sun slowly but surely fell in the horizon. The rumors had stated that these bandits hit after daylight hours, and she had hoped that she'd catch them red-handed -- nobody suspected a cat, after all.

When a man sat by her and began to eat, her carrot orbs would turn to him curiously. He looked quite solemn, but innocent in regards to her investigation. When he offered her a chunk of ham, she gladly took the snack from him, chomping down on it with a loud purr. Being an animal was the best! It always lead her to free food!

With the taste now overwhelming her taste buds and distracting her from the goal at hand, she'd stand up and brush against him, letting out a meow in greeting while her eyes remained fixated on the sandwich, hoping he'd give her more for her appreciation.

Ivory was overjoyed by the man's generosity; her thunderous and continuous purr a testament to that as she nommed up all that he offered. Though, she noted, he was quite the pessimist! She'd casually sit there after all the goodies had been devoured, listening to him speak and bringing a paw up to her mouth to lick and then run over her ears, evidently cleaning herself.

Upon his ending statement, and after her bath was completely done, her felid body would abruptly burst into flames. An inferno that expanded in size until it simply vanished, leaving in it's wake a white-headed woman of pale skin. She smiled and patted him on the back, "Mistakes are half the fun! How much more boring it would be if we always remained the same? We'd be so flawless, so tediously the same. Mistakes distinguish who we are and who we are to become. Without them the routine of existence would indeed be just that - the same ol' boring stuff everyday."

"I don't know about that! I guess perfection would be subjective. If you're suffering then you're evidently not "perfect" then, not in my perception of the word, anyways!"

"Everyone starts off the best they can but nobody can be without mistakes. We can only be the "best" that is available to us at any given moment, after all, and depending on our own life experience that best is variable." She dropped her hand from his back by then and was teetering on the edge of the wall intentionally, her legs happily swinging back and forth, the back of her shoes running into the brick siding. Much like a happy-go-lucky child. Perhaps it was because for once, in a while, she did not have the desire to rip his throat out; which meant he wasn't human, given her vampiric desires otherwise.

"As for the calamity.. that's all theoretical, isn't it? Perhaps from it the World's Savior would be born, but without it, maybe they would've have been. Or maybe all the children born after it could of only been born with the calamity having happened; does that mean their lives are worthless or less than the worth of those lives pre-calamity? I don't know, exactly, but.." She turned crimson orbs to him, a faint smile upon palid lips. "I'm glad I was born. I was born fourty-eight years after the calamity and despite all the harsh things have happened, I am happy. I have met the love of my life. I have a family that is stronger than blood. I have a purpose beyond my own self. Without the calamity maybe none of that would've ever been, eh? So mistakes.. mistakes can birth some fantastic things, I think."

"Ha. You're strange too!" She followed his gaze to the guild house, one she knew to belong to Cait Shelter. "That's silly, though. I cannot desire what I have not had, and what would be the point in desiring to know what I haven't known? Self-driven desire is in itself is a mistake, if you ask me."

"That aside, there are plenty of miserable people in this world. There always will be. I'm sure the pre-calamity had equally miserable persons. Existential contentment and discontentment is subjective; mistakes or no mistakes, there's going to be the happy and the unhappy, regardless of environmental conditions. But just because there are those who fail to recognize the potential of their own lives, that doesn't mean that the world is invalid."

She turned her gaze forward, faintly recalling her purpose here. To watch for the thieves. The light of the sky was almost completely gone now.

"The only thing that is worth doing in this time, is figuring out how to serve the world so that it can take steps toward a better future. Anything else is a waste of life and mental energy."
